The GIVI 50.8 Racer is standard excellently equipped sporty full-face helmet. Think Pinlock®ready, integrated sun visor, wind curtain chin, all combined with a tight line design. Price/quality-wise, this turns the 50.8 Racer into a leading motorcycle helmet.
Important to know: these new motorcycles helmets are ECE 22.06-certified, which is for now, the most recent European motorcycle helmet norm.
The outer shell of the GIVI 50.8 Racer is made of polycarbonate. Three different helmet shells accommodate all helmet sizes in this case, which indicates a clear strive towards compactness. That’s exactly how the 50.8 Racer feels: tight and compact. It emphasises the sporty flair and air of this motorcycle helmet.
Speaking of ‘air’: you need oxygen to perform and oxygen is supplied via the double chin ventilation. This keeps everything sharp and tight, in light with the theme. We’ll say that the air inlets on top are more conspicuous. You can operate all the chin and top ventilation with sliders. In the back, the air can escape the helmet from under the spoiler, one of the aerodynamic kinds.
A full-face helmet like this one displays about 1500 grams on the scales. Nothing wrong with that, that’s for sure.
The scratch-resistant, transparent visor is Pinlock®ready. Not a major surprise at this razor-sharp price: the Pinlock® 70 lens is not supplied and is therefore, optional. The visor opens and closes with about 4 intermediate positions. To close it fully, you click it closed centrally. There is the presence of an integrated sun visor, which is positive. You can find its slider behind the hinge point on the left, which is easy enough to operate while you’re on the road. There are no cut-outs for glasses.
The anti-allergenic lining of the GIVI 50.8 Racer is removable and washable. It feels pleasant and tight and it inspires confidence. This is also true for the micrometric closure, which facilitates putting your helmet on and taking it off. The strap is soft and adjustable.
With a breath deflector and the (easily removable) wind curtain chin you can enjoy additional protection against riding wind.
For maintenance of this helmet we recommend S100 helmet and visor cleaner for the outside. For cleaning the interior without removing it, you can use S100 helmet interior cleaner. New visors have received a water-repellent treatment. This treatment is less effective after some time. Restore the water-repellent effect with Rain-X anti-rain spray.
Safety above all! Never ride with a scratched or dull visor. Especially at night, scratches cause blinding reflections from street lights and headlights of oncoming vehicles. This effect is even more pronounced in rainy weather. It is best to replace a scratched or dull visor as soon as possible. Planning a longer trip? Then don't forget to bring a replacement visor with you. Never ride in the dark with a tinted visor.
