Belgian, locally designed and European manufactured, Bowtex grew out of a need experienced by bikers, and decided to just make what they needed. It's not a bad starting point for good motorcycle clothing and these Essential motorcycle trousers from Bowtex certainly are.
This is underwear. Technical underwear developed for and by bikers to make life easier. You transform any pair of trousers into CE-certified motorcycle clothing when you wear the Essential underneath. The Essential is also highly breathable and feels comfortable against the skin. Even at low speed you will feel the wind, thanks to the Coolmax® material. What you wear on top of this will get on your nerves faster than the Essential itself. Waterproof the Essential is not, but you wear something over it anyway.
The base of these motorcycle pants / pyjamas / leggings / jogging is 45% Dupont™ Kevlar® with 55% Coolmax® and that is complemented by 87% High-Density-Polyamide and 13% Elastane. Stir well and the result is a close-fitting, wonderful piece of motorcycle clothing that keeps your body temperature at a fairly good level in all conditions, while still offering the impact protection and wear resistance of almost full-fledged motorcycle pants.
Almost, because the Essential really should be worn under your normal clothing. Hence the yellow colour of the Dupont™ Kevlar® aramid fibres. Something tells us that these pants may even be more comfortable when worn under a ski suit. And that's perfectly possible, without any problems.
It takes some getting used to, at first. We are happy to admit it. We are used to wearing our safety motorcycle clothing above our 'normal' gear and here it's the other way round. No problem: you get used to it quickly. Especially because the Essential gives off much less of an 'engine' image, and we don't always have to give off that image. With the Essential under your (dress) trousers you can go anywhere. The available SAS-TEC® TRIPLEFLEX impact protection on the knees and hips is also flexible and ultra-light.
It's light, flexible, easy and finished. Stretch material on the waist and ankles, and the option to use an extra loop under your heel. The latter serves to keep everything in place in the event of a slide. You can wear this perfectly all day long. Even if the temperature is rising sharply that day. Just wash it once in a while at 30° and hang it on the rack to dry. Not in direct sunlight. Do remove the protectors beforehand.
Although this is a tight fit under any cut or pant, Bowtex advises fans of slim fit jeans to choose one size smaller than their slim fits. In all other cases, this is not necessary.
