Apart from being a mouthful, the ABUS Detecto X-plus 8077 SRA is also a large disc brake lock. Better still: it is an electronic disc brake lock based on 3D-detection (hence the name). As soon as your bike starts moving, the alarm of at least 100dB will sound. There are different acoustic signals for battery status, activation and the alarm itself.
This SRA version complies with the requirements and criteria of most European insurance policies.
The French SRA-certification is equivalent to the Dutch ART-quality mark. The Detecto X-plus 8077 SRA disc brake lock received four stars from the latter; the highest possible score.
Evident, because the disc brake lock is equipped with the infamous ABUS X-Plus cylinder and was awarded Security Level 18, which means a very high protection against a high risk of theft.
The ABUS Detecto X-plus 8077 SRA disc brake lock is easy to use. The alarm is activated when the lock is pressed onto the brake disc for 2 seconds. Upon activation, a red light will blink indicating that the bike has been properly secured – which also acts as a deterrent.
This disc brake lock contains two (supplied) AAA-batteries that are easy to
replace. Depending on the use, the batteries should be replaced when the
LED-light blinks orange or red:
• ‘LOW battery’, quick blinking of orange
LED. Activation is indicated after 4 seconds with a ‘beep’ sound. The alarm
function can still be used but it is recommended to replace the batteries.
•
‘Very LOW battery’, quick blinking of red LED, followed by 3 short ‘beep’
sounds. Activation is indicated after 6 seconds with a ‘beep’ sound. Operation
of the alarm can no longer be guaranteed. Replace the batteries as soon as
possible.
The Detecto X-plus 8077 SRA disc brake lock fits into a small tankbag or underneath the saddle. It is delivered with a practical carrier bag and two keys, one of which with an LED-light in order to be able to easily open the lock in the dark.
This disc lock can also be ordered ‘equally locking’, which means that you can operate different locks with the same key.
A Memory Cable reminding you to remove the lock, is not included. The lock will give a warning sound when the bike is moved from its jiffy.
Tip from the RAD-house: Make it a habit to always attach the disc brake lock to your front wheel brake disc. It’s where the potential thief is most likely to spot it (that’s okay, a lock always has a dissuasive effect) and you are most likely to be reminded of it. You wouldn’t be the first to take off and end up with a distorted brake disc or a banged-up mudguard.
