ABUS has been making it hard on motorcycle thieves for over 80 years and we are happy about that. The Granit Victory Xplus 68 roll up disc brake lock is an eye-catching one, with a distinctly different shape than the rest of the family.
This SRA-version complies with the requirements and criteria of most European insurance policies.
This French SRA-control mark is equivalent to the Dutch ART-quality mark. The latter grants the Granit Victory Xplus 68 SRA roll up disc brake lock 4 stars, which is the highest score. Righteously so because the cone-shaped Granit Victory Xplus 68 SRA lock is able to present a Security Level 16. This is also the highest possible category.
Two keys – one with an LED-light – are delivered standard. You always need a key, for opening as well as closing of the lock. The locking pin does not automatically lock.
Where most disc brake locks are U-shaped and placed over the brake disc, the Granit Victory Xplus looks like a cone or mushroom growing from the disc. The 16-mm locking pin is simply fitted through one of the openings. The round shape and rotating outer ring make it hard for tools to try and break it open. This ‘roll-up’ version has an integrated memory cable in the lock housing which reminds you not to forget to release everything before you take off.
The locking pin, the lock housing and the internal elements of the locking mechanism are made from tempered special steel. This lock can be ordered ‘equally locking’, which means that different locks can be locked with the same set of keys. You can quickly and easily order an additional or a replacement key with the supplied ABUS Code Card.
The small dimensions of the Granit Victory Xplus 68 SRA allow you to easily transport the lock. With a weight of roughly 720 grams, the first place we’d consider is underneath the saddle.
Opportunity makes the thief, which will be a lot harder in this case. Of course, nothing is ever 100% s(ec)ure. A combination of safety measures gives better results than 1 single lock and when you leave your motorbike behind for a considerable amount of time, it’s always wise to lock it to something.
Attention! With a locking pin of 16mm, this lock does not fit every motorcycle brake disc.
Tip from the RAD-house: Make it a habit to always attach the disc brake lock to your front wheel brake disc. It’s where the potential thief is most likely to spot it (that’s okay, a lock always has a dissuasive effect) and you are most likely to be reminded of it. You wouldn’t be the first to take off and end up with a distorted brake disc or a banged-up mudguard.
