Casual and stylish, two keywords that describe these Chrome motorcycle shoes made of cowhide and suede. For this version, we can also add ‘waterproof’.
Trendy, modern, fun, light to wear, sufficiently protected and in ‘regular’, ‘Air’ and ‘Waterproof’ version, the Chrome by Alpinestars take up about half the shoe rack at this point.
The Chrome motorcycle shoes come in different sizes, types and colours. These Chrome Waterproof ones are supplied with a waterproof membrane underneath the suede and cowhide exterior. It adds a little versatility to these Chrome motorbiking shoes. Evidently, ankle-high motorcycle shoes won’t guarantee dry feet, but, given the circumstances they deliver proper results.
Don’t be fooled by the all-round relaxed appearance of the Chrome: Alpinestars is intertwined with sporty riding to such an extent that there are always aspects and techniques seeping through from the top categories to the more accessible and rather urban applications. That’s true here as well.
With their tight design and modern styling, the Chrome motorcycle shoes could easily pass for regular sneakers and city shoes. Even with the waterproof membrane, they have the comfort level for it, thanks to the OrthoLite-insock® that quite literally embraces your feet. Nonetheless, there are ankle protectors as well and the heel and toe reinforcements offer a dose of protection.
Alpinestars is applying the (recently acquired) sole construction to their expanding city motorcycle shoe range; more precisely, the Alpinestars Transversal Protection Frame (TPF), which prevents – in short – your toes and heel from meeting up. At the bottom, an advanced rubber sole with PU – also – provides a mixture of comfort and functional grip specific to this Chrome.
Sneakers like these once had a negative image, mainly because a couple of smartasses hooked their lace loops around their gear or brake levers. The intuitive, elastic closure at the top of the Chrome motorcycle shoe remedies this issue and simplifies the quick closing of these motorcycle sneakers.
The higher the fashion level - and the level of ‘we don’t really look like motorcycle shoes’ -, the smaller the chance your leather shoes have a full-fledged shifting reinforcement. No problem on a scooter but on a motorbike, the multitude of shifting will quickly cause wear and tear. A shame of the leather shoes because this “wear and tear” will not often be incorporated in the warranty conditions.
You’d better take precautions, give yourself a hand or a foot in this case and add an extra layer to your leather motorcycle shoe or your gear lever. There are a number of options available in our range.
