Do you remember? Hard leather motorcycle jackets, mittens with fur, reversed sheepskin, fluttering scarves, heavy boots and still arriving cold, speckled and wet at your destination. Great memories. The Zaca Waterproof Jacket by Alpinestars is the other way around. There, a perfect description. ‘Next generation’, is what that’s called: a sporty motorcycle jacket – that doesn’t look like one – with plenty of softshell.
That stretchy softshell complements the wear-resistant basic fabric (450D poly material), adding the feature of comfort. It creates a well-fitting exterior that is light and that offers sufficient freedom of movement in just about every circumstance and composition. Compositions, let’s name a few. The removable thermal lining (100 gr on the body, 80 gr on the sleeves) and the removable hood allow this motorcycle jacket to be configured in line with that day’s weather report. Plus, it can withstand changeable circumstances as well. Those could even include water, thanks to the integrated 2L waterproof membrane. On the hottest of days, the direct ventilation openings generate a pleasant air flow.
The Zaca Jacket is Tech-Air® Ready. The Tech-Air® 5 as well as the Tech-Air® 3 airbag system can be integrated and the stretch inserts offer plenty of space for the activated airbag to use those couple of centimetres to deploy without pushing those forces onto your body too strongly. The Level 2 Nucleon Flex Pro protective material on the shoulders and elbows provides the protection that comes with the impact and/or gliding that comes with that, while staying sufficiently flexible at the same time. For those who want to, you can easily fit in chest pieces and a Nucleon Level 1 or Nucleon Level 2 back protector. The external shoulder slider can be categorised as ‘DFS Lite’ – the Friction Shield.
The back of the motorcycle jacket is longer than the front: its purpose is to prevent bulging and offering sufficient protection for your back in that typical riding position. The removable hood is perfect for an urban environment, where riding and walking are equally viable. The low collar was inspired by sportier motorcycle jackets, the four storage pockets on the outside and the three inner pockets tend to lean more towards touring. This way, a comfortable, decent mixture was created.
The belt loops suggest that this Zaca prefers to be combined with decent motorcycle jeans trousers.
