It is remarkable how devices that were updated recently (2022) no longer have a traditional FM-radio, due to the troublesome supply of electronic chips and components.
The reason behind that decision is that it is better to have a proper functioning intercom without FM-radio than no intercom at all, so the least essential element is cut.
This obviously doesn’t mean you have to go through life in silence now: there’s still the option to listen to music through your smartphone or external MP3-player or even to an online FM-station with weblink. It even sounds better, without static. The only disadvantage is that the data usage of your smartphone gets a little boost on the way.
The 10S is Sena's latest product and is the long-awaited successor to the proven SMH10.
By using advanced technologies including Bluetooth 4.1, the new 10S is faster than its predecessor. Together with the digital "Active Noise Control" the 10S offers a superior HD Bluetooth intercom up to 1.6 km*. In addition, Sena has equipped the 10S with a free downloadable smartphone app. The 10S can be fully configured via this app. The 10S is suitable for any type of helmet and weighs only 57 grams.

Jog Dial or Remote Control
Once again Sena has paid a lot of attention to ease of use. Thanks to Bluetooth 4.1 technology the 10S can be easily connected to the Sena handlebar control or wristband. These remote controls make it possible to operate both intercom and audio via the handlebar without having to let go of the handlebars. But the 10S would not be a worthy successor to the SMH10 without the well-known "Jog Dial".
HD Audio
The Sena 10S offers outstanding HD sound quality thanks to active noise reduction. This means that when noise increases, the 10S constantly suppresses it (Active Noise Control) and thanks to the integrated audio booster, you can enjoy HD Audio in Full stereo.
Battery
The built-in lithium-polymer battery has enough power for 12 hours of use. Charging can be done via the mains or very conveniently via the supplied cable while riding.
General remark: the world of electronics (which also includes intercoms, smartphones, GPSs, etc.) is changing so fast, that it is possible that some (outdated) devices are not compatible with each other in certain areas. Unfortunately, the manufacturer can't provide us with data that shows which combinations between intercoms/GPSs and/or smartphones cause problems. A regular update of all electronic devices is therefore desirable to avoid problems as much as possible.
Our experience teaches us that the following combinations can cause problems:
