Bornite is a mineral of many colours. Therefore, it is better known as ‘Peacock Ore’ and with a little imagination we can easily link the blue fowl to these waterproof REV’IT! motorcycle gloves.
Admittedly, drawing a parallel between an outstanding winter motorcycle glove and a peacock that inadvertently flashes its tail, is less apparent than we thought. To start, the Bornite motorcycle glove has a men’s as well as a ladies’ version while we all know that it’s only the male peacock that struts its stuff. Now, like it’s often the case, the tail is used to blind peers. Whoever sees through that, will see that the Bornite is a sharply priced motorbike glove with many assets.
The first thing you notice is the soft fur (not actual fur and certainly not feathers) you slide your hands into. Fiberfill® and ‘High loft fur’ are the names of the ingredients that keep your fingers warm and toasty, without hindering your movements at the handlebars. Because that lining runs all the way down to your wrist, you actually get a general warmer feeling than when it’s just your finger tips that are comfortably lined. REV’IT! itself calls the Bornite H2O short motorbike gloves but you can still count on a hand-wide cuff.
The warm, woolly, wintery motorcycle glove got a Hydratex® Z-liner to act as waterproofing buffer. It has been logically integrated in the mainly wear-resistant 600D Polyester exterior of the Bornite H2O. The presence of Twill Stretch material ensures a large flexibility and the required freedom of movement. For some, the absence of hard impact protectors will be an issue, even though the protective level even without a stiff knuckle protector is still on par. A wide Temperfoam® surface takes over that role and it’s that same Temperfoam® that you see return on the palm of the hand. The construction of the palm is PWR|shield, a test and tried recipe from the REV’IT! R&D department that you’ll find in almost all of their motorbike gloves.
With the Bornite H2O you’ll still be able to locate the indicators and brake handle. Trying to pull the thread through a needle or close your Double-D ring closure; you best take them off for a second.
All the usual suspects are there: the integrated visor wiper (the L-shaped material on the side of your (left) index finger and thumb) and touchscreen-sensitive fingertips, as well as the Velcro closure, reflective name and logo.
In conclusion: the Bornite H2O has the attitude of a male peacock parading all its beautiful colours. At the counter, you’ll only pay for the chick, though. A great deal for an excellent motorbike glove that you can wear even in the fall or in springtime.
