The Horizon 3 H2O is a waterproof all-rounder that will take you effortlessly towards that horizon and its setting sun. Or the evening rainfall. It doesn’t matter, really. Not for the Horizon 3 and even less for the biker (man or woman) wearing it.
If ‘versatility’ were a motorbike jacket, the Horizon 3 H2O would make an excellent candidate. There’s a men’s as well as a ladies’ version.
This motorcycle jacket is relatively budget-friendly, as in: high (laminated) value for your money. As successor to the Horizon 2, the Horizon 3 was given a visual update but also technically there are some clear improvements.
The Horizon 3 H2O is still a waterproof, laminated touring jacket with excellent ventilation properties. Home on many terrains, which makes it the ideal companion for commuters, motorbike travellers, touring fans or just frequent riders. The exterior is made of PWR|shell 450D 2L and ripstop 2L. In layman’s terms: a mixture of strong seams and wear-resistant fabric. Even more wear-resistant where needed, lightly stretching where useful. In one word and still in layman’s terms: comfortable. And that’s exactly how it feels. Remarkably soft and yet, wear-resistant.
The reflective material used is limited but the Horizon 3 H2O is compatible with the REV'IT Connector HV fluorescent vest, so it is up to you whether you want to add another layer of visibility to that.
REV’IT! went for a laminated hydratex®-membrane, which enables the outer layer of this Horizon 3 to take up as little water as possible. It just runs off and so this motorbike jacket stays light, comfortable and quick-drying, no matter what you unleash on it. ‘Laminated’ also means that the hydratex®-membrane cannot be removed. The downside of a laminated membrane could be that temperatures may rise quickly in certain conditions, but with the Horizon 3, you can simply open the wide mesh sections on the chest. Thanks to this system, you can simply turn this jacket from ‘completely waterproof’ to ‘well-ventilated’ on the go. You can fix the mesh parts in their open position to create a greater effect.
Nice extra is the thermal lining that turns the Horizon 3 H2O into a 2-in-1. Or actually, a 1+1 = 2, because you can wear the neatly finished lining autonomously as well.
REV’IT! shines in tight, short-cut jackets. Even a (always a bit longer) touring jacket like this Horizon 3 H2O can fit nicely around your body. No fluttering sails at this Dutch motorcycle clothing manufacturer. It’s not like there aren’t any adjustment options, either: upper arms, forearms, collar, sleeve ends, waist and centring belts on each side; the list is long but that’s actually what we are used to at REV’IT!’s.
Next, impact protection. We can be short about this. The Horizon 3 has prize-winning SEEFLEX™ CE-level 2 protectors on shoulders and elbows and is ready to fit a SEESOFT® RV or SEESOFT® Air CE-back protector as well as the (double) SEESOFT™ CE-level 1 chest protectors.
You can even add the load of pockets and storage compartments, the collar hook, the short and long connecting zipper and the somewhat obvious option to attach a pair of Horizon 3 pants, and you’re armed for just about any challenge that comes your way.
The combination with the eponymous Horizon 3-motorbike pants is one that will bring you far.
