With the Splugen 3L D-Dry® DAINESE aims for the touring riders, all-season riders, frequent riders and all-rounders who want to mount their noble steel steed all year round without further ado and decide on the way which arrangement to do it in. With three layers, a waterproof membrane and sufficient ventilation – operable single-handedly – odd things ought to happen before you change your mind.
The outer layer consists mainly of 600D Polyester which for the experienced biker is an omen for an excellent wear and tear-resistant base. The outer layer of the Splugen 3L D-Dry® is therefore more of the ‘structural rack’ that literally carries the underlying functional layers. In logical order, these are the D-Dry®membrane that links waterproof features to breathing qualities and a thermal lining. All unzippable, if that wasn’t clear.
Now, calling the outer layer of the Splugen a mere rack is doing it injustice. With its wide array of ventilation openings, six (!) wide pockets (two in the back, four in the front), two adjustable centring straps, adjustment options on the sleeves (pushbuttons, twice) and a collar that can be operated separate from the central cover flap, this is a stunning motorbike jacket. Talking about ventilation: the Uno Touch™ Air Vent-system allows for a one-handed operation on the chest, always a plus on a motorbike. This system needs a little getting used to, though. It’ll never be a mesh jacket but it definitely is an excellent all-rounder. We have to admit that the spread between Summer and Winter is pretty impressive. You can magically turn the central zipper into an additional ventilation strip in the blink of an eye.
The impact protection is impressive: Pro-Armor, level 2 shoulder and elbow protectors are standard. A back protector and/or chest protector (double, two-piece version) can be fitted quickly and easily. Reflective inserts are up to the task without being too conspicuous during the day.
We definitely need to mention the integrated Magic Connection™-system which allows you to temporarily attach your motorbike gloves to your jacket in the bottom right with a magnet. They obviously need to be equipped with the Magic Connection™-system as well.
The cut is standard, which at DAINESE means that it stays relatively short to the waist. The combination with decent DAINESE motorbike trousers is an evident one.
Below you will find an overview per body length of the appropriate CE homologated Dainese back protector.
