The Metis 2 motorcycle (racing) gloves are the still very budget-friendly successors to the motorcycle gloves from 2018. These long(er), tightly designed and sporty motorbike gloves are perfect for those who want the look & feel of the racing world, without having to invest in high-tech motorcycle gloves that’ll never set foot (or hand) on a race track.
Just to be clear: to a certain level, these are genuine competitive motorcycle gloves. They were given a whole lot of specifications and knowhow and have every potential of being excellent motorbike gloves. It’s just that they fall short at 300 kph, which is no disgrace at all, just important to know. The guys in the MotoGP expect different things; the average motorbike rider will feel pretty good with the unsponsored Metis 2.
Looking at it a bit differently, then we can say that the Metis 2 with its long cuff has a lot of potential. They’re absolute knockouts as a budget-friendly entry level model. The soft, perforated leather mainly came from the goat that willingly donated it, even though there may be a couple of cowhide strips hidden between the fingers somewhere. Goatskin is still the best warranty for good steering, grip and feedback from the motorcycle, so that’s optimal. It also feels good, thanks to the stretch panels.
With a knuckle protector, a hard slider on the palm and little finger guard, they also offer a lot of protection. All other fingers, including the thumb, were given extra protection in the shape of Temperfoam®-details. All those protectors are included in the wear-resistant goat covered cocoon that – where needed – was even given an extra layer. There is even microfibre on the fingertips to operate a touchscreen, which illustrates that the Metis 2 is first and foremost a daily user, not authentic motorcycle racing material.
With external seams, a distinct sporty print and the long cuff that you can close around the wrist neatly with a wide Velcro strip and a strap, you get a unit that fits the sporty style perfectly.
