The Lacus GTX is a remarkable motorcycle glove. Thinner than you’d expect but breathable and waterproof thanks to the GORE-TEX and Gore Grip Technology. We wouldn’t mind if the off-season really took a turn for the worse.
With that, we are talking about the weather. Days where it’s raining cats and dogs seem to be what the Lacus GTX was made for. There are many benefits to the GORE-TEX (the integrated membrane) and the Gore Grip Technology (the fixing method to the exterior layer) that keep the volume of all that waterproofness to acceptable bounds. This is made for true all-season riders and commuters. Some will probably be able to wear them all throughout the year, combined with heated grips and a set of hand guards.
The Lacus GTX also has a ladies’ version and a brother in the little less classic Contrast GTX.
Obviously, there’s more to it than the waterproof properties alone: the Lacus GTX has a lot of goatskin. Pittards Planett’s sheep leather (in the shape of grip patches) on the palm and thumb should ensure added grip, while the cuff and fingers contain enough stretch to keep everything comfortable and flexible.
And we’ll say it again: this list suggests a stout motorcycle glove, which it certainly isn’t. The Lacus GTX has a long cuff that is easily adjusted with Velcro to leave the option ‘over or inside the sleeve’ wide open. A Velcro strip keeps everything in place.
There’s impact protection in the shape of a hard knuckle protector (with a layer of Temperfoam® underneath), a TPU palm slider and TPU thumb protector. Regarding that ‘hard’; softer supplements were added to the palm and thumb with the Temperfoam®.
With touchscreen compatible fingertips and a strip of reflective material on each finger, the list is almost complete. The only thing left to mention is the visor wiper - and now we are ready for a wet motorcycle ride.
