We wouldn’t be surprised if this successor of the Eclipse places a few more grams in the scale, thanks to the sturdier mesh. But even then do we suspect that no other mesh motorcycle trousers come anywhere near this Eclipse 2.
The motto is simple: back to basics. Keep it simple. Less is more. No nonsense. Pick one, any one, they all apply to these entirely ventilated motorcycle trousers.
You take the Eclipse 2 from your closet when you don’t want to wear anything more on your motorbike. This is minimalistic, comfortable and in that pleasurable way, almost perfect. Not for all circumstances. The new mesh that – apart from the seat, the knees and the waist – makes up almost the entire Eclipse 2, is a summery product. Every drop will go right through, every breeze palpable. As it should. There’s nothing more to say about the quality of the wear-resistant material than what it is: high-quality. And wear-resistant. Not to break lap records but for ‘normal’ rides. Daily. In summer. The A-classification corresponds to many motorcycle jean trousers, although the Eclipse 2 is actually a lot lighter.
The style is a little dressier than most motorcycle jeans. Or: ‘stylish’. The versatile use of mesh prevents it from becoming too classic but with a relaxed fit, two slash pockets and two back pockets, a pushbutton, zip and belt loops, this is not a massive attention-seeker at all. A little chino maybe. Quiet, doing its job perfectly but not too loudly, sort of thing.
The hip protectors are optional (SEESMART®) and the standard SEESMART® knee protection is adjustable in two heights.
Don’t go looking for zippers at the bottom or other ways to wear the Eclipse 2 over other trousers. These trousers stand on their own and even at standstill are so light and comfortable that you simply keep wearing them.
That penultimate statement isn’t entirely true: together with the motorcycle jacket with the same name, the Eclipse 2 forms a perfect complementary whole.
