The Track is a thoroughbred leather motorcycle jacket that – what’s in a name – has a sporty cut and lots of racing characteristics. Whether that makes it a genuine racing motorbike jacket? You’d think that. But not in these times.
These days, racing material is hyper-specialised. In a parallel universe, about half a century ago, the Track could have been racing gear. It feels like a harness made of buffalo leather but it’s still a civilised motorbike jacket that Segura labelled as ‘metro’: the metropolitan jungle being its playing field.
It’s a husky lad, the Track. The combination of buffalo leather and nubuck, with a SHELLTECH thermal lining adds some weight to the scales. That thermal lining can be removed quickly and easily, which exposes you to the recycled REPREVE® Unifi Inc.- mesh lining. This lining guarantees a healthy climate control but let’s keep it clear that the Track is a motorbike jacket whose design was not intended for summer. It’s not something you quickly store in your back pocket or backpack either: the Track is a conscious choice that you need to stick with.
An excellent choice, we might add. Firm leather, a structure that many a racing suit would envy, with the divinely enveloping, safe, warm feeling of genuine leather. Take a deep breath, allow the buffalo scent to penetrate into your deepest olfactory receptors and enjoy while the sound of the typical crackling of the leather brings music to your ears. The Track is a total sensory perception. And, an excellent racing jacket.
With three outer pockets (one on the chest) and another additional pocket on the left forearm, there’s not much you’ll have to leave at home. A napoleon pocket and extra inner pockets in the removable lining offer more than sufficient storage space.
The individual adjustment options are of high-quality but they are not endless. The Track is a motorbike jacket you’ll have to combat at first. It will ‘settle’, so if you hold your breath too much in the beginning, you’re done with. Whatever can be adjusted, is done with pushbuttons or solid zippers; nothing less would fit this leather. This means that you buy the Track as a tight-fitting unit in the first place. To then wear it for five days straight. A customised design could not beat those results.
With the Track, Segura delivers a motorcycle jacket that will delight every lover of retro. With or even without motorbike. The latter being perfectly viable because the ALPHA shoulder and elbow protectors are of the flexible and barely noticeable kind. There is a compartment for a CE-certified back protector as well.
You combine the Track with proper motorbike jeans and a pair of motorcycle shoes.
There is maintenance clothing and then there is clothing maintenance. Good, solid motorcycle clothing is an investment in comfort and personal safety. So invest in its maintenance after your purchase and enjoy your gear for longer.
