With this all-round touring and adventure jacket, Modeka is marketing a sharply priced all-in-one. The second one actually because this is an improved version and a successor to the original. And since ‘adventurous’ is quite the relative term, we believe even the daily commuter or all-season rider will benefit from this.
This three-quarters, 3-in-1 textile jacket consists of a wear-resistant 750 D Tactel® exterior. Places that are extra fragile in a crash, have been given 1000 D Cordura® as protective layer. The Panamerica II stretches where it should, is just a little longer in the back and is equipped with one outstandingly supple YKK-zipper to close everything off neatly.
A 100% waterproof and windproof Humax®membrane is an upgrade compared to the original Panamerica and keeps you dry without concessions with regard to breathability. The waterproof membrane can be unzipped if you want to, just like the padded jacket that protects against the cold. The latter has been finished to such a degree that it can be worn even without the rest of the jacket.
The Panamerica II is supplied with ‘Modeka Airflow Ventilation’, which are ventilation zippers (in the front) that in a second stage can be converted to complete ventilated panels thanks to decent Fidlock®magnets. The AirCollar has a couple of assets as well. Summer or Winter, from Canada to Argentina or just miles and miles on the highway: this motorbike jacket can handle it all.
There are plenty of adjustment options. There are two adjustable straps on the sleeves (an improvement!) besides the traditional zipper and Velcro strip at the sleeve ends.
Two Velcro strips adjustable in length allow you to centre the flanks tightly, with options to spare at the waist. There’s a slidable push button on the collar.
There’s seldom an excess of storage space but with the Panamerica II, chances are small you’ll be using every pocket available. Five on the outside, three inside and the knowledge that everything underneath the membrane just stays dry, this will take you places. The thermal lining gets two exterior pockets, which emphasises even more that it can effectively be worn as a stand-alone jacket.
SAS-TEC® provides the required impact protection. Shoulders, elbows and back are all standard supplied with CE-approved protectors. Evidently, there’s reflective material; not too conspicuous during the day, perfectly safe in the evenings and at night.
The Panamerica II got a long as well as a short connecting zipper. This opens up all combination possibilities, although it might be logical that the Panamerica II-motorcycle pants are in the lead here.
