A ‘Spartan’ is many things: tough, rigid, sober and strong. That’s what tradition teaches us, anyway. The Spartan RS was the first SHARK that complied with the new E 22-06 helmet standard and can therefore be called “the first of a generation”.
Please note! Contrary to the product image, this helmet comes with a clear visor. The pictured tinted visors are available separately.
That ‘regular’ SHARK Spartan RS gets an extra dimension in this carbon fiber version. A visual one, granted, because we are talking about a ‘carbon skin’, so more about design and looks than actual fundamental changes.
The helmet shell is still in multi-axial fiberglass, combined with EPS in various densities. Logical, because it is this helmet shell that is largely accountable for achieving that new safety standard.
The Spartan RS Carbon is closely related to the Spartan GT and its carbon versions, which illustrates how SHARK is still one of the best motorcycle helmet manufacturers. Two helmet shells contain all the different helmet sizes. With a net weight of about 1.485 grams, the Spartan RS Carbon remains a relatively light and compact motorcycle helmet.
Three air inlets and four outlets help regulate ventilation. Everything can be opened and closed, which gives a high number of possible settings. Aerodynamics was clearly a topic at the development of the Spartan RS Carbon, which lead – among other things – to the double fin at the back. Thanks to the required wind tunnel sessions this has become a remarkably silent motorcycle helmet. The Spartan RS Carbon is designed to restrict aerodynamic resistance, which obviously helps with that.
In one smooth movement and because of that, it also looks marvelous: the industrial style, supplemented with the carbon look, gives the Spartan RS a very tight appearance in this version.
The RS shares its visor with the GT. The transparent VZ300-visor has its origin in the VZ-100-visor used by the professionals. The locking system originates directly from the racetrack. Its cylindrical shape has been designed specifically to ensure a bigger (being: wider) field of vision, without causing optical deformation. The motor helmet is supplied with a Pinlock 120 Max Vision®-lens. The integrated sun visor is properly and gradually positionable and easy to operate, once you have located the slider on top of the helmet.
The interior has anti-bacterial properties, is composed of recyclable fibers, is removable, washable and has ‘EasyFit’ cutouts that make it easy and more comfortable for spectacle-wearers. There is a significant amount of 3D-morphology in the cheek pads, which delivers a perfect fit, ensuring that comfort and the required support complement each other almost seamlessly. The more we discover about the Spartan, the less Spartan it becomes.
A double-D-closure is a logical choice for this type of motorcycle helmet.
For cleaning the outside of your helmet we can recommend S100 helmet cleaner. The helmet interior can also be cleaned without removing it with S100 interior cleaner. A treatment on the outside of the visor with Rain-X anti-rain spray improves visibility during rain.

Safety above all! Never ride with a scratched or dull visor. Especially at night scratches cause a blinding reflection of streetlights and headlights of oncoming vehicles. This effect is even more pronounced in rainy weather. It is best to replace a scratched or dull visor as soon as possible. Planning a long trip? Then don't forget to take a replacement visor with you. Never ride in the dark with a tinted visor.
