Ever since 2009, the Laguna Seca lineage has been the sporty essence within DAINESE, awarding all their acquired knowledge and experience their designated spot. Concretely, this renders a number of – very strong – variations to the theme. Here, the variation is a two-piece racing suit.
This two-piece version of the iconic racing suit – fifth generation! – is a superior solution in every field: comfort, safety, aerodynamics but also style and uncensored class. Sharp as a knife and – thank you, connecting zipper – practical enough to use often and with pleasure.
This fifth version of the Lacuna Seca two-piece is the first version with Tri-Axial stretch inserts on the back. Combined with the S1-stretch and Micro-elastic 2.0-Stretch with similar effect elsewhere, delivers a pretty innovating level of agility and comfort. The most recent racing technology applied to the open road exists largely of full-grain and Tutu cowhide leather. Logical choice because it’s wear- and tear-resistant. The essence is the same all-over: leather will always have the best warranty for a tear-resistant suit. In this case, you can add aluminium (yessir) to that list, which makes for an impressive sum of components.
From the elastic inserts in the collar (and actually everywhere in the suit) to the integrated system to attach your motorbike boots to your motorcycle trousers, over the longer back of the motorcycle jacket and the use of the Micro-elastic 2.0, this is more than a two-piece top quality suit.
DAINESE designed and designs this type of racing suits for the high-performance segment, where maximum protection, maximum movement and maximum comfort intertwine.
DAINESE gets their impact protection almost directly from the MotoGP. Elbow and shoulder protection in composite material (EN 1621.1 - level 2) and an identical set for the knees; up to this, you get the exact same protection as ‘the doctor’. With a replaceable, innovated external aluminium shoulder plate and another one of those on each elbow, you’re good there too. The hips get a set of also innovated Pro-Shape 2.0 protectors and as a whole, the two-piece racing suit has been certified according to the CE-Cat. II-89/686/EEC-standard.
Optionally, you can fit in the Pro-Armor chest protectors. no excuse not to gear up completely before heading for the roads.
The true artists can put their elbow down. The external elbow sliders are quickly interchangeable, just like the external knee sliders. There’s a little more to it with the elbow sliders and with a ‘little’, we mean: grab them and make a quarter turn and they’ll come right off. This suit is, in every aspect, the absolute summit. In two parts.
There’s no need to explain that it can get pretty toasty on track as well as next to the track. DAINESE has a few tricks up their experienced racing sleeves to offer a solution for that. They use 3D-Bubble-inserts and on the flanks and upper legs you’ll find a couple of decent ventilation zippers as well. The NanoFeel®-removable and washable lining is also an asset.
The print is pretty straightforward, with the striking logo prominently present on the chest. Motorcycle jacket and trousers are obviously a seamless (but not ‘zipless’) combination although nobody would blame you for taking only one of these out on the road. Or walking down the streets. Or sitting on the couch.
There’s one inner pocket in this apex quality suit; the latter obviously being a reference to another apex.
If we weren’t that keen on riding, we would definitely frame this Laguna Seca 5 two-piece racing suit and hang it on our living-room wall. Just behind that MV Augusta F3 800/RC with its delightful short, triple exhaust pipes that we were allowed to park there after endless nagging – excuse me, asking.
Simply, to enjoy it.
There is maintenance clothing and then there is clothing maintenance. Good, solid clothing is an investment in comfort and personal safety. So invest in its maintenance after your purchase and enjoy your gear for longer.
