DAINESE Metractive Lady D-Wp Black-White

Nobody would blame you for wearing these Metractive Woman D-WP motorcycle shoes even when there’s no motorcycle around. They can perfectly pass for streetwear or urban sneakers or whatever you want to call them.

DAINESE developed a number of Metractive versions. This one – the Metractive Woman D-WP – is the waterproof version for ladies. It demonstrates a number of evident differences with, let’s say, the Air version, which was developed with another basic principle in mind.

It also allows for a wider range, as in: more months during the year to wear them. Plus, they are still pretty lightweight and ankle-high, which results in a couple of other consequences.

The full-grain leather exterior is wear resistant and sufficiently solid to inspire confidence when you plant your feet at a stop sign. If, by accident, those feet land in a puddle of water, the integrated D-WP interior will take care of waterproofness. Obviously, ankle-high waterproof shoes with laces can’t perform miracles, but we all know that.

It’s quite apparent that a motorcycle shoe of this calibre has reinforced toes and heels and that the ankle has been given additional protection. Harder plastic inserts from the outside, D-foam inserts on the inside; this combination works wonders, linking sturdiness to comfort.
Although from afar they might appear quite classic, a little sportiness is never far away. You open and close them with the laces. The topside of the tongue was given a press stud and wide cover flap, under which you can safely store the ends (and mainly, the loops) of the laces. DAINESE calls this, a ‘lace garage’.

The CE-certification (Cat. II – EN 13634) is the logical result of the smart construction and clever development of these ankle-high (and therefore, perfectly legal) motorcycle shoes. The combination of Groundtrax® soles and an Ortholite footbed provide a high dose of stepping comfort.

The higher the fashion – and the ‘we don’t really look like motorcycle shoes’ – level, the smaller the chance your leather shoes are supplied with full-blown gear lever protection. That’s no biggie on a scooter, otherwise, the multitude of shifting gears will wear down your shoes fast. Too bad for the leather shoes, because the warranty conditions don’t mention ‘wear’.
