The ‘Urban Ride’ Pyro 2 is an urbanite that can realise its full potential there. Ankle-high with laces, a ‘Micro-Synth’ exterior that provides a dose of ventilation and riding wind, but also an integrated High-Tex® membrane that keeps moisture away from your feet.
With this Pyro 2, Gianni Falco has delivered a summer motorcycle shoe. One that’s definitely not 100% waterproof but obviously not a bath slipper either. Once again: this is a sneaker. An ankle-high motorcycle shoe for the city. You won’t compete in a MotoGP in these and you don’t have to go off on a world adventure. An ankle-high shoe, close to the ground and right behind the front wheel is very hard to broadcast as 100% waterproof. The ankle height of the Pyro 2 is rather on the low side, by the way. Let’s stick to the lower half of the ankle, which is still perfectly acceptable – and in countries where this is a thing, legal.
There’s protection present, to start with the D3O®-cup on the inside of the ankle. Toe, heel and outside of the ankle have not been prominently equipped with protectors but together, they form quite a sturdy unit in this Pyro 2 motorcycle shoe. Firmer than you’d expect at first glance, anyway. The rigid, hard rubber anti-skid sole has a little something to do with that as well.
This is a sneaker, an ankle-high, laced motorcycle shoe with a dose of sporty lines, although there will be those who could wear these to work just as easily. The low weight and high comfort level allow for a literal step into the world. Many may doubt the laces (those who brake and shift gears with their feet), which is resolved by Gianni Falco by providing an extra loop in the tongue of the Pyro 2 motorcycle shoe.
