This Component 2 is a slightly-adapted successor to the original Component, which was the showcaser for the REV’IT! DIRT-SERIES at the end of 2020. The Component 2 stays loyal to the adventurous off-road spirit and was adapted only where useful.
One striking observation: the DIRT-SERIES, aiming at a rather self-reliant target audience, also seems to be the preferred option for many ‘asphalt riders’. Their demands are somewhat different, however, so this Component 2 was given a pocket to contain a back protector and you no longer have to count on an external harness to be fully protected. This is – apart from the new colour – the most striking change. The ochre we associated with sandy dunes has been replaced with a more accessible brown hue.
Further, this still translates to light-weight motorcycle gear, comfortable and with high-quality, modern protection. Waterproof, without thermal lining and ready to go. What has been kept, is still top quality. Never change a winning team.
The exterior is PWR|SHELL ripstop stretch, amply supplemented with 3L Cordura on the sleeves and shoulders: wear-resistant and heavy-duty-riding-resistant. Heavy weather, because the laminated Component 2 motorcycle jacket is waterproof. The (laminated) Hydratex® takes care of the waterproof properties, which can’t be faulted, really. No removable membrane and no need to look for a thermal lining, either. Nonetheless, should you choose to go on a wintery adventure, then the best option is a thermal jacket as an additional layer. In the other direction, you have everything you need on board: lower and upper arms are supplied with ventilation zips and in order to remove hot air, you simply open up the zipped jacket pockets. Those ventilation zippers are waterproof and go straight through the laminated membrane. Direct ventilation is still the best option if you’re really off-roading and choosing for the sweaty work.
The DIRT-SERIES are characterised by their loose, comfortable fit. Not tight. Everything is pretty wide, because the Component 2 likes to leave a lot of options on the table: go for an additional protective harness, thermal jackets in all sizes and proportions. In any way, the looser fit is characteristic for the off-road ambitions of the Component 2. If you have other intentions, you could simply consider buying one size smaller.
By default, the Component is equipped with flexible 1 CE certified SEESMART™-protectors on the shoulders and elbows. These will do but the DIRT-concept allows for the additional/substitute – if needed – REV’IT! Proteus protector vest. For that reason, the standard protectors are easily removable.
The hood is a fine piece of technical textile. First of all, the way in which it is attached is impressive. The speed to remove or attach the hood – which is also laminated, by the way – cannot be overlooked. Just like the entire Component 2, this added elements offers a very individualised option. Or: options. You choose how to handle things. The large storage space on the back is ideal to store away the hood.
The Component can be perfectly combined with the REV'IT! Component H2O pants (over the boot) or REV'IT! Peninsula (inside the boot).
