The strikingly slim, mid-height SP-X Boa has nothing to do with the large snake and everything with its closure system that is (mainly) popular in the track cycling world.
The Boa we speak of thus refers to the quick-closure or speed lace system with synthetic laces and the coiler on the side of this SP-X motorcycle boot. The big advantage of this type of closure is that you are able to customise the fit of the motorcycle boot perfectly to your foot and ankle. To achieve this precision fit, simply twist the coiler or disengage everything at once in one single movement (pull up).
Contrary to track cyclists, here Alpinestars has provided an additional Velcro strip at the top of the shaft, starting from the leather shin guard, guaranteeing effortlessly slipping this SP-X Boa inside a technical motorcycle trousers.
The outside of this slim motorcycle boot is made of a combination of advanced microfibre, ultrasoft RIDEKNIT® material and knitted mesh. The seamless, thermo-welded parts create one solid unit.
At the base, the shiny TPU heel cover and the toe slider stand out. Invisible but equally important is the Alpinestars TPF Transversal Protection Frame that through your sole prevents your toes and heel from ever pointing in the same direction. The profile of the sole – with an asymmetric back heel – helps maintain your walking stability and a comfortable, natural stride once you step off your motorcycle. The removable OrthoLite® insock and anatomic EVA footbed with Lycra lining play their parts as well.
The SP-X Boa has an integrated shin guard, dual-density ankle discs, TPU shift pad and toe slider reinforcement. The remarkable, knitted areas in the front and back offer great freedom of movement and comfort.
