The Copper V3 motorcycle jeans can hardly be distinguished from traditional jeans trousers. Nonetheless, these are top-quality motorcycle trousers: a single layer of stretch denim, reinforced with aramid and triple seams to keep everything together.
For many motorcycle jeans, you can see the motorcycle not too far off. Alpinestars strived to change that image. These are motorcycle jeans with the attitude of ‘regular’, stylish jeans. And yet … the knees are contoured and the back of the waist has been designed to offer enhanced protection.
The cut is – for the fashionistas – regular straight fit. For the ordinary man in the street, this means ‘straight down’. By the way, don’t be misguided by the stretchy denim; the Copper V3 offers plenty of space. The stretchy part shows most prominently on the motorcycle, when you notice no hindrance at all. This shouldn’t fit too tightly around your legs. However, they are not wide, either – they should fit like ‘regular jeans’.
The Copper V3 does throw some weight in the scale, which only inspires confidence. Because sitting on a motorcycle is obviously different from sitting on a chair, Alpinestars has integrated that additional, soft layer at the seat. Where there’s more friction, and where your saddle and buttocks are in close contact for a prolonged time. Hence, a comfort-increasing element. Combined with the ergonomic construction that takes the bending of the knees into account, the result is astounding – visually as well as substantially. Furthermore, that doubled layer cannot compare to the motorcycle jeans of the first generations – which primarily enhanced sweat levels. It does create more body and firmness.
For impact protection, you can count on a couple of CE-certified Nucleon Flex Plus knee protectors that come standard and that excel due to their simple, practical and slender profile. They can be adjusted to three separate heights. You can optionally fit in hip protection as well. The aramid fibre in the knee and hip areas also offers additional protection.
A Copper V3 has all the pockets you’d expect from (motorcycle) jeans – hence, five of them. The belt loops and the typical button-with-zip give a familiar vibe as well.
