The XT-5 GORE-TEX motorcycle glove is a waterproof motorcycle glove for the mid-season. Its construction stands out because it seems like Alpinestars integrated a short motorcycle glove into a broader, weather-resistant model.
It does have its benefits: the long cuff of the XT-5 reaches over the sleeve end, offering proper protection while the internal, short motorcycle glove closes around the wrist neatly. That annoying feeling of wind seeping in? None of that, with this XT-5 GORE-TEX motorcycle glove. You could assume, with essentially two pairs of motorcycle gloves on top of one another that this compromises fine motoring skills, leaving barely any feeling. Luckily, this isn’t Alpinestars first motorcycle glove, so once again: none of that.
The micro ripstop outer shell with extra ‘Tech Stretch’ and ripstop reinforcements on the back of the hand delivers a wear-resistant construction.
Other contributor is the leather palm of the hand (grip and steering feel) with synthetic suede reinforcements on the side of the hand. The ball of the hand was given the ‘AR Shield landing zone’, which is actually an added foam layer. Combine all this with an SP Lite knuckle protector (innovated, hidden below the textile) and it all adds up. Excellent.
Ow right, we haven’t discussed the GORE-TEX membrane with GORE GRIP construction yet, for even more riding comfort and dexterity – a lazy copywriter might brush this off by saying that it speaks for itself.
The XT-5 GORE-TEX motorcycle glove fits snugly. The ergonomically shaped wrist construction – with quick-release and drawstring – keeps everything neatly in place. The conducting index finger and thumb allow you to operate your GPS and smartphone without having to take off your motorcycle gloves.
