Welcome to the highest segment of winter motorcycle gloves. This pair of WR-X GTX motorcycle gloves has been designed and developed to ride in demanding circumstances for extended periods of time. This time, your hands – always the weak link – will probably not be the reason to back out.
This WR-X GTX (one of Elon Musk’s kids?) has a Ripstop polyamide outer layer that sets the tone. Wear-resistant, more than robust enough to inspire confidence and with plenty of comfort to allow for those long motorcycle rides in winter conditions. The leather palm is functional (grip and feel) and has been reinforced in synthetic suede and thanks to the stretch insert it’s a sight to behold. It’s clean and snug, which shouldn’t surprise: the focus is on the GORE-TEX waterproof and breathing membrane with GORE GRIP construction. That is the first barrier against any extreme elements. The second line of protection is right underneath that and is just as effective: a compact 133g PrimaLoft® Gold insulation keeps your fingers and your hands toasty.
The specific ‘rolled’ finger design deserves some extra credit and attention because it realises an insulation that is more advanced than we are used to, which means that it keeps the ‘inner temperature’ – your hands are 37° - inside the motorcycle glove warm for longer.
GORE-TEX, proper insulation, individualised construction, fitted design, lots of protection… better materials and the intelligent model – not to forget the tons of experience housed at Alpinestars – ensures a comfortable and mainly weather-resistant motorcycle glove.
The cuff is long enough to emphasise that premise. Logically, the closure around the wrist allows the choice to go over or inside the sleeve. Not to forget the thumb and index finger that are compatible with your smartphone or any other touchscreen.
There is maintenance clothing and then there is clothing maintenance. Good, solid motorcycle clothing is an investment in comfort and personal safety. So after you buy it, invest in its maintenance and enjoy your gear for longer.
