The Taskala motorcycle gloves by Held are true adventurers. Light, with an unpadded palm yet still sufficiently protective. Short and thus meant for summer, not waterproof yet perspiration-resistant.
Everything about the Taskala screams studded tyres and a surface that has little to do with asphalt. The back of the hand is made of mesh and elastane, focusing clearly on comfort and not as much on wear-resistance. More specifically, these are wear-resistant motorcycle gloves and the (invisible) knuckle protector in hard plastic does offer quite some impact protection but don’t consider the Taskala motorcycle gloves on a racetrack, unless for the mechanics to keep their hands from getting dirty.
That would be a shame, though, because in the right circumstances the palm of the hand in ‘chamude’ synthetic leather does offer sufficient protection and grip. The silicone print has something to do with that as well; you’re almost glued to your throttle handle. A little lower than that, you can feel the foam protecting the ball of the hand, which is supported by the Armaprotec layer so as to lift the Taskala motorcycle glove to a higher level.
Colourfast, perspiration-resistant and comfortable; this is made for effortless riding fun. You don’t even have to take off the Taskala for selfies because the leather fingertip and thumb allow you to use your smartphone and other devices.
A Velcro strip on the (short) cuff, right below the wrist, keeps everything neatly in place.
