Urban motorcycle gloves without a membrane (or lining) and thus, for summer, for use in the city with sufficient protective value: the Southfield motorcycle gloves are a perfect match for that bobber, café racer, cruiser or retro bike.
It does look like someone crafted them from motorcycle jeans pants; which is no coincidence because half of the Southfield motorcycle glove is made of Armalith, effectively the same material used in certain motorcycle jeans trousers. It warrants lots of stretch and a high level of protection; nothing wrong with that.
Once again Held went for goatskin leather for the palm of the hand, the sides of the fingers as well as the accordion panels that ensure some margin and movability. There’s a little extra padding in the ball of the hand thanks to a layer of foam and on the knuckles there’s a (not too rigid) contoured protection.
This is a motorcycle glove that you either love or hate. Regardless of preference, everyone will have to acknowledge that this is a comfortable motorcycle glove. Fun to wear, sufficiently protective, with a touchscreen-sensitive index finger and thumb, and even a visor wiper on the left. The latter was maybe a little overkill but we’ll take it.
On the wrist, you close the Southfield motorcycle gloves with a Velcro strip which tries its best to make it look like there’s a press stud as well.
