The Supertech R has undergone a number of changes in this version, which make an already iconic motorcycle boot even better. Tighter, sharper, faster... the Supertech R should be on your coffee table for at least a week to fully admire it.
The Supertech R is a motorcycle boot that has been worn by a multitude of champions, and is constantly evolving and improving. Worthy of an icon. This results - in this version - in a phenomenal top-motor boot. One which, after a week of admiration and wonder on the coffee table, we could easily spend half a day talking about. Here we limit ourselves to the striking results of its most recent facelift.
After all, it is impossible to give a detailed account of the technical baggage hidden behind and inside the Supertech R. Even in half a day. All the more so because it also contains a complete biomechanical ankle brace which is just as qualitative as the exterior. That internal boot is perfectly attuned to the external one, so the two should always be used in combination. This inner boot acts as an exoskeleton and combines optimal freedom of movement with the highest possible protection. The latest research and developments were used, resulting in a near-perfect fit, excellent motorcycle feedback and maximum impact protection.
The outer construction in microfiber is water-resistant, durable and even a little bit lighter than before. The exterior is dripping with ease of maintenance.
The injected TPU on the renewed front side, below the shin guard, stands out. The flexible, ventilated piece focuses mainly on wind permeation and the mesh underneath fits the concept wonderfully. Above that, it's hard to ignore the TPU shin plate. It is to say: you need both hands to do so. The shin plate literally hugs your entire leg, like a snail shell, and that ensures excellent distribution of impact and energy. This 'cochlea' is secured at the back with an adjustable, countersunk ratchet closure. The perfect fit, you could say.
On the inside of the leg an innovative microfiber layer with relief provides grip, feeling and protection against heat. It's impossible to blame your footwear for steering errors. On the outside of each leg, the long, soft TPU strips that accompany the equally long entry zip down to below the shin protector stand out. Aside from looking great, the soft TPU construction also makes for a better (read: tighter) closure.
The rubber sole received a modification for even more grip. The integrated TPU-and-aluminum toe sliders look so good it's almost a shame to scrape them against the curbs. Luckily, you can change the toe sliders in the blink of an eye with a simple screw.
At the back, you'll admire the redesigned heel protection that transitions into the accordion strips. Note that these are not boring, not horizontal, not 'plain' and lead your eye upwards, where a faux leather edging neatly settles around your calf. Back downstairs, you'll believe us when we say that the lighter shift reinforcement is specifically to provide better feel and feedback from the shift lever. 'Believe', because we're still in the admiration phase on the coffee table.
Riding the Supertech R is riding an iconic motorcycle boot. These are the very best in motorcycle boots and we're still debating whether to just put a glass bell jar over them and store them.
