The Dirt 4 motorcycle gloves are the logical successor to the popular Dirt 3, which naturally comes with a few changes. Not too many – don’t fix what ain’t broken – but just enough to justify a few small modifications.
The main change is the combination and proportion of the (outside) materials. The goatskin is noticeably softer and the share of stretch material has increased. This seemingly simple revision is what delivers a very fun, ventilated and airy summer motorcycle glove, that looks a lot like… the Sand 4 H2O. They share the same – newly used here – knuckle protector and because it has a more outspoken, angular appearance, it stands out. However, where the Sand 4 is an all-rounder, this Dirt 4 focuses on summer.
Don’t let that limit you. Despite the fact that the Dirt 4 motorcycle gloves aren’t excessively long and don’t promise waterproofness, we do know some riders who would use them all the way up to the winter season. If you are able to avoid any actual storms and your handlebars have a button for heated grips on them, you’ll wear these for a long time.
This motorcycle glove is mainly made of soft goatskin, covering almost the entire palm, side and a piece of the back of the hand. It provides a sturdy feeling, while the back of the hand is largely made of ventilated 3D air mesh, allowing wind to enter without almost any obstruction. Other used basic materials are certain synthetics, discreet reflective material (try looking for it during the day) and conductive Connect on the fingertips, that allow you to effectively use your smartphone. Everything has been efficiently placed and a PWR|Shield keeps everything firmly together.
There are protectors too, and plenty of them. TPU is the material of choice in this case and the (semi-hard) knuckle protector as well as the fingers (except for the little finger) have been given their typical shape. The thumb has the do with a harder version, just like the palm slider. Like we said before, this delivers a pretty sturdy and robust whole.
Even though these are definitely not long motorcycle gloves, your wrist is more than sufficiently covered and protected. You close the cuff by means of a wide Velcro strip.
