First there was the Tornado, then there was the Tornado 2 and the Tornado 3 and when we thought all the teething problems had been dealt with, REV’IT! presented this Tornado 4 H2O motorcycle jacket. What? How multifunctional do you need a summer motorcycle jacket to be?
Design, materials and all-round safety were already given the required updates. The Tornado 4 H2O is the outcome of a different view on the matter, resulting in a disconnection between the lining and the waterproof membrane. Of one another, and of the exterior, in all perceivable set-ups and orders. This results in a 3-in-1 with the additional feature of the option of wearing the waterproof Hydratex 3L-membrane over as well as underneath the exterior of this motorcycle jacket – with or without thermal lining. The latter can also be attached to the exterior without the membrane. It is a new, recent approach that knows fans and foes, and which has been applied by REV’IT! before, in the Offtrack.
There are some logical consequences to the update(s) the membranes received lately. More specifically: the membrane became even more breathable and stretching. Less artificial too. Better, more comfortable and more fun. Until all of a sudden, you can wear it over your motorcycle jacket, like an autonomous outer layer. And – we’re almost there – where the Offtrack showed a few teething issues (colours and lengths that didn’t always match), REV’IT! decided to design everything in one colour, producing a uniform and recognisable unit. The only thing adversaries could still bring up is that the membrane protrudes from underneath the motorcycle jacket in the conventional, trusted set-up (outer layer – membrane – lining). Well, it’s either that or a wet board at the bottom…
Most importantly, it’s a step up – once again – and it created the Tornado 4, a motorcycle jacket you really need in your wardrobe. If you add the different colour options and lady’s versions, you’ll understand that this Tornado 4 H2O is a summer’s flagship.
Motorcycle jackets like these always try to be as versatile as possible. Ventilation and lining, that kind of stuff. The Tornado 4 H2O extends its playing field to anything from about five to 10 degrees Celsius, up to the high forties. It doesn’t matter if it rains either. This is something of a completely different order than what we’re used to.
The exterior is made of polyester, ripstop and 3D mesh. Which is underselling it. PWR|Shell is the name of the technique developed by REV’IT! that ensures that wear and tear resistant fabrics are pulled together properly to form one solid whole. It delivers a permeable and yet very protective outer layer. For when it’s forty degrees, just to be clear. But then, the road starts to ascend, you are taken by surprise by a rainstorm and the weather doesn’t appear to be unchanging at all. No biggie: the removable thermal lining and/or the waterproof Hydratex® 3L-membrane are fitted quickly and easily, opening a whole new scala of opportunities. Warm and wet? Fine. Cold and dry? Also fine. Cold and wet? Sure. For those who would like to add the dimension of ‘visibility’: a Connector HV jacket is also able to find its spot in the bigger scheme of things. Well I’ll be damned.
The Tornado 4 H2O is an outstanding motorcycle jacket, with a different focus and structure than most others. This is summer but with a lot more options. Not for cold, wet days ‘with a ventilation zipper somewhere’. The principle is reversed, which makes this an interesting point. It differentiates this entire Tornado 4 package from most other motorcycle gear.
This is the motorcycle jacket you wear at 5 o’clock in the morning to leave for a trip just as comfortably as arriving somewhere in the South twelve hours later. Never mind the number of kilometres and climate zones in-between. Because this is vintage REV’IT!. High-quality finishing, attention to detail. A tight fit and a short cut, collar hook, flexisnap at the collar, stretch where needed. Reflective accents and three inner pockets, besides two slash pockets in the front.
The standard equipped SEEFLEX™ CE certified elbow and shoulder protectors are excellent as impact protection, at a high level. The elbow protectors are adjustable in height and if you want, you can optionally integrate a SEESOFT™ RV or SEESOFT™ Air CE back protector – or a chest protector, as you please. These can all be fitted.
