The Airwave 4 is a change in style compared to previous versions, but it’s still an ‘air mesh’ summer motorcycle jacket with a lot of possibilities. In any way, the Airwave 4 motorcycle jacket still does as the name promises: giving wind and air free play.
This fourth generation – time flies – has become a lot sportier. Visually, that’s clear, but also its cut and fit lean more towards a sporty, forward position on a slightly faster (read: probably less adventure) motorcycle. Less touring, more bends and sliders, something like that. Nevertheless, there’s always the option of wearing a ‘fast’ motorcycle jacket on a ‘less fast’ motorcycle. In the reversed order this is usually a little more challenging.
In line with that thought, safety features have also shifted up a gear. Where previous Airwave motorcycle jackets were labelled with an A-certification, this Airwave 4 now carries a AA-certification. It fits the faster energy but don’t turn this into track material, though. The reflective material is subtle during the day and enhances visibility in the evening and at night – which is on public roads. SEESMART™-level 1 protectors on shoulders and elbows come standard. The Airwave 4 is prepared to be expanded with a SEESOFT™ RV or SEESOFT™ Air CE back protector and a SEESOFT™ CE-level 1 chest protector is also one of the optional possibilities.
This combination of proper protection and (lots of) ventilated comfort are top-class. Sharply priced top class. REV’IT! integrated large panels of PWR|shell mesh, with ripstop and softshell as main ingredients, in order to boost the combination of both properties. The Airwave 4 is available in a man’s and lady’s version, and in many colour schemes. Including matching, eponymous motorcycle pants – although you might as well match the Airwave 4 motorcycle jacket with decent motorcycle jeans. For understandable reasons an elasticated loop was provided, to swiftly hook this motorcycle jacket to your belt.
You’ll probably wear this summer jacket on hot days and when wind gets free play, so does water. Just so you know.
The Airwave 4 is a very light motorcycle jacket, while REV’IT! is always a fan of tight-fitting motorcycle clothing. The solution? Sufficient customisation options, such as adjustable straps (Velcro) at the waist and press studs on the upper arms. You won’t see many REV’IT! logos on fluttering and flapping motorcycle clothing. On the collar, you get two press studs. Two pockets in the front supplemented with an inner pocket result in plenty of storage space.
The Airwave 4 is – still – the ultimate air mesh summer motorcycle jacket.
