This Control one-piece suit by REV’IT! is brand-new, which is when our ears are cocked because there’s already half a forest of solid motorcycle racing suit family trees. So why is the Dutch motorcycle clothing manufacturer planting another one?
The Control is the ‘male’ motorcycle suit that is closely related to the Xena 4 for ladies, which is exactly where we find our source of renewal. Long story short: REV’IT! can now count on the knowledge, expertise and experience of the Italian Vircos, who have been specialising in customised motorcycle racing suits for over a quarter of a century. They delivered a redesigned Xena 4 that grew not one but two levels in safety compared to the previous versions so it would be a shame not to distil a men’s suit out of these assets. And there you have it: the REV’IT! Control one-piece suit.
This results in an excellent fit, Tech-Air® compatibility and safety level AAA. Well… This very full-blown and high-performance motorcycle racing suit can present almost everything REV’IT! has to offer in their wide arsenal. The exterior is a combination of cowhide (partially perforated) PWR|SHELL stretch material, 3D-mesh and a smidgen of neoprene. Cleverly connected, this delivers a motorcycle racing suit that allows you to move freely and flexibly (remember that it’s still a one-piece racing suit!), that guarantees a lot of protection without cooking your body. The neoprene in the collar offers a level of comfort.
If you look any further, that’s when things get fun. What about the synthetic inserts on the inside of the knee that provide additional grip to your tank? Or the extra zips at the bottom that allows even huskier calves to feel comfortable? Or the cuff that grips your motorcycle gloves, and the removable and washable mesh liner? There’s also a hump that can contain a camelbag and we are also a fan of the area behind the central zip where you can apply your name and blood type.
The replaceable elbow sliders really do suggest that this was made to reach your full potential. Going around a track MotoGP style demands a lot from man and machine – not in the least an astounding control – which is exactly the forte of the Control motorcycle racing suit.
The provided impact protection borders the impossible. On the exterior, you can’t miss the standard knee, shoulder and elbow sliders. This was meant to go fast and even faster. To tickle curbstones and defy the laws of gravity. SEESMART CE-level 1 protectors on the hips (RV30-L1-B) come standard, just like the BETAC CE-level 1 protectors underneath the sliders on the knees, shoulders and elbows. If that doesn’t suffice: the Control one-piece is ready to be fitted with an optional SEESOFT CE-level 2 back protector and chest protector. Notice how placing the knee sliders allows for a little play thanks to the Velcro area being slightly larger than the slider. This inadvertently reminds us again of a tailored job.
Nice, is what we call it. Razor sharp. Da bomb. Feel free to enjoy it first for a day, hanging from your coatrack before putting it on and taking off like a controlled missile.
