In 2022, REV’IT! decided to store away their existing collection of motorcycle jeans trousers, to send out an R&D team and to wait for them to resurface with a completely new range.
These Micah TF motorcycle jeans have a tapered fit which means they should fit tightly at the bottom. Take a look at the details: the colour of the rivet button in the corner of the fifth pocket and the REV’IT! logo on the inside of the central button exposes the CE certification of these motorcycle jeans. Red means class AAA (the class of leather suits), blue gets you AA and black warrants class A safety.
In this most recent motorcycle jeans collection, REV’IT! opted for single layer denim. This comes closest to ‘regular’ jeans, in terms of looks and comfort. This is only possible because the materials are now more hard-wearing than ever before. No need for six layers of fabric – one single sturdy base layer and that’s it. In this specific case, these new materials are ’16 oz. Cordura® Denim’: wear-resistant, sturdy and very comfortable too.
Because this is AAA class, you can count on an extra layer of PWR | Shield 2.0 on the seat, the hips and the knees. Triple A motorcycle jeans are still more the exception than the rule. Leather motorcycle trousers have the same AAA certification, which only demonstrates how this guarantees you moving generously into the direction of a safe ride.
“Whatever I gain in safety, I lose in comfort”, is what we hear you think. The AAA jeans by REV’IT! were given a stretchy lining which automatically comes with a bunch of comfort and freedom of movement, so this feels right, literally and figuratively speaking. You open and close the Micah TF with a row of buttons. No zip.
The height-adjustable (there are two pockets) knee protectors are SEESMART CE-level 1. Sleek and tight, and more preshaped than anything REV’IT! used before. Specifically in the tight-fitting motorcycle jeans trousers, the light curvature is a bonus, although every pair of motorcycle jeans and its wearer benefit from a better shaped protector. Undoubtedly when – like here – they are well-ventilated and seamlessly integrated into the motorcycle jeans of this REV’IT! generation. Protectors like these ones are customised, with a left and right version.
Hip protectors come standard and are, just like the knee protector, of the SEESMART type. Meaning: flexible, ventilated and well-designed.
The pockets – the same five pockets as found in ‘regular’ jeans – have been reinforced at the edges. Not a protective measure – although triple seams do help – but an effort to extend the Mica TF’s life expectancy. Experience has taught REV’IT! that frayed edges were more often the weak link than actual sliding incidents.
The Micah TF by REV’IT! are the provisional highlight in the motorcycle jeans segment. Another fun detail: the (apparently leather) label in the back is ‘vegan approved’ and not made from leather at all. Further, we are still fans of the reflective stripe that only appears when you flip over the bottom of the pant leg.
By using the Safeway 2 belt, you can zip these motorcycle jeans to your favourite REV’IT! motorcycle jacket.
If you are not a fan of the tapered fit, you might prefer the slim fit of the Reed.
