The Dromico by MACNA is a competitively priced, waterproof 2-in-1 with removable thermal lining and a nice, casual cut. An urbanite or a light travel companion in spring, a part of summer and autumn.
We believe that there once was a book on dinosaurs on the MACNA drawing table, because we’ve already had the Raptor and this Dromico – well, the male ‘Dromico’ version and the female ‘Dromica’ – might refer to the Dromicosuchus, or ‘fast-walking crocodile’.
In any way, contrary to the ones excavated by archaeologists, this Dromico has a wear and tear-resistant fabric exterior. Robust and solid, but definitely pleasant and not rigid at all. That first outer layer hides the integrated Raintex® membrane which is non-removable and because there aren’t any direct ventilation openings, we would situate its playing field somewhere in the mid-season. Bone-dry high-summer will probably be a little out of its reach. Everything other than that is fine, because thanks to the removable thermal lining and integrated waterproof membrane, circumstances may vary and temperatures can fluctuate.
The cut of this Dromico stands out because it is somewhere between short and three-quarters. Not quite touring length, no super-sport motorcycle racing cut, either. Hence, the city – again – and pretty straight forward, without too much frill. Arriving somewhere in the Dromico might make your appointment wonder whether you’ve come by motorcycle at all. It gives a relaxed, straight-to-the-point style that is the right amount of tough without being too threatening.
The Dromico motorcycle jacket should fit pretty tightly. Individual adjustment options are limited to a Velcro strap in the waist. Two slash pockets, an inner pocket and a discreet little pouch for a bank card on the left sleeve – all with zips – provide the required storage space but mind you that you won’t be able to store half your belongings. The scope is once again: nearby, close to home, in the city…
The Easy cuff attachment at the sleeve ends is still a MACNA element we feel is a plus: the inner layers of the motorcycle jacket are linked together by means of a small zip (instead of loops and press studs), which prevents loose, floating, annoying, double layers where motorcycle gloves get tangled in.
The Belt Loop – not attached at the bottom but actually fixed to the collar with a specific construction – is a nice extra because that way you carry the weight of your motorcycle jeans on your shoulders, creating a sort of integrated suspender. Also internal is the Electric Power Guide or EPG, the system of loops to guide the wires that run from your heated gloves to your motorcycle battery or pocket battery. Did we mention that high-summer was not in the cards?
The RISC level 1 impact protectors by MACNA are what form the impact protection on the shoulders and elbows. A RISC back protector can be bought separately to be fitted in yourself.
