The GMS Metropole WP is a very budget-friendly softshell motorcycle jacket. So, not a speed demon but upholstered with the tried and tested membrane, which means that it is maybe even more versatile than you’d expect at first glance. Not unimportant either is the razor-sharp price.
The ‘WP’ stands for WaterProof, a quality attributed to the GMS Metropole WP mainly by the GERMATEX® Z-Liner that’s integrated below the comfortable softshell exterior. Waterproof, wind-tight and breathing, what more can you expect from a membrane. However, it does stay put and cannot be removed. AirVent ventilation zips on the sides allow wind in and provide cooling if needed. According to the GMS description, the zips are waterproof. Experience teaches us to take such comments with a grain of salt. If you really want to travel wind and water-tight, it’s probably better to invest in actual rain gear instead of relying on the properties of the softshell.
The protectors that come standard in the Metropole WP are all CE certified. The compartment in the back can optionally be used to fit in a back protector.
With a couple of pockets, and a waist and sleeve ends that remind us of a bomber jacket, the Metropole WP truly lives up to its name.
