At least for 2/3 of the Trekker Outback EVO’s name is very well-known and needs little introduction. Side and top cases, world travellers or robust commuters, sturdy fellows, in different sizes and equipped with all the necessities to tour around comfortably.
All the necessities? Well, increasingly so. Always more advanced and goal-oriented. Hence the ‘EVO’ in the name. Ow yes and this version also takes your high exhaust pipe(s) into account. ‘Finally’, is what we hear. Functionality and all-round qualities are kept at a high level with details that add that extra layer.
This ‘package’ consists of one Trekker Outback EVO side case. The right one, to be exact. To expand the capacity (48 litres is the largest one, which is quite wide) or to replace an older one.
Wha’s different in this EVO version? The four tension strap holders on top of the side cases have become more refined, thanks to an improved version of the plastic element that was introduced earlier (the 2018 update) and the GIVI print in relief on the sides of the cases looks a little different and more modern. The handles are wider to be comfortable even with motorcycle gloves on. The hinge is an update, with an ‘endpoint’ that eliminates the need for the two strings on the inside: the lid will stay open no matter what, should you want it to. Another innovation is the little hook on the inside, allowing the side case to be suspended on the rack, for an even more practical accessibility.
The largest and most striking change, however, is the recess for an exhaust on the left side case. Not this one, obviously, because this is the right-side case.
This evidently means that you’re losing a little bit of storage space but it gains motorcycle width. Up until this EVO, owners of asymmetrical motorcycles used a (more slender) 33-litre side case on the side of the exhaust and the wider 37-litre side case on the side without exhaust. They no longer have to do this and now it’s even possible – case in point – to go crazy with the 48-litre large right-side side case – that can effortlessly contain any motorcycle helmet.
The GIVI Trekker Outback EVO side case is part of the Monokey®Cam-Side series and can only be used as a side case. There are a number of combinations and formulas, in black anodised aluminium as well as in a more natural look & feel. With or without top case, by piece or by set, the luxury of GIVI and of (among others) this Trekker Outback EVO series hides in the modular approach. The Trekker Outback range consists of a number of sizes of top and side cases to assemble your set to your liking.
Each case is equipped with a safety lock and is splashproof. The Trekker Outback EVOs are attached and locked quickly and easily onto a motorcycle-specific mounting set. This mounting can only be secured with a PL-CAM-rack. These racks are heavier than the regular PL racks and have been equipped with the Cam-Side mounting system.
With a single key you can operate the locking mechanism that closes as well as locks the cases into place on the holder. Thanks to a handle carried on bearings (with more room in this EVO version) on each side, you can effortlessly carry these cases to and from your motorcycle.
This case has a series of optional accessories:
- Inner bag: Due to its complex construction, an Outback case is not guaranteed to be waterproof. The T507 waterproof inner bag is. An inner bag also ensures greater comfort. If you want to check in at a hotel, you don't have to take the entire case to the room. Simply remove the inner bag (with everything inside) from your suitcase and you're ready to go...
- Stainless steel thermal drinks bottle: real adventurers are sometimes thirsty too. With the holder E199 you can attach up to two thermal drinking bottles to the side of this Outback side case .
- Security lock: This case is already equipped with a security lock as standard. Got multiple cases? Replace all the locks on all the cases and lock them all with the same key.
- Reflective stickers: To make you more visible in the dark, a set of E145 reflective stickers is available. In vertical position, they fit perfectly on the flattened corners of these cases.
- Cargo bag: on top of this Outback Trekker, an additional cargo bag GRT714B or EA120 can be mounted with a set of tension straps S351. Besides the GRT714B, there's another kart bag available: the XL01B.
- Plastic Jerrycan: a water, oil or petrol supply of 2.5l can be carried in the GIVI Jerrycan. With the E205 holder in stainless steel, the Jerrycan is easily attached to this Trekker side case.
- Extra grip: that the Outback 48l is a tough guy does not need a story. The extra handle E143 makes transporting this case a lot easier.
- Luggage nets: use the space that the case has to offer inside. Fit a luggage net E144 and store lots of small items in it. On top of the case, the luggage net T10N can be easily attached.
- A backpack: T521 with a capacity of 15 litres that can be stored in the upper tray of the case.
- Interior lining: This E204 lining in soft neoprene will keep your luggage and the inside of your suitcase looking fresh for longer.
- Set of protective rubbers: prevent scratches on the top shell of your side case when you mount other bags on top of your Outback with the E237 rubber strips
Care instructions: as this case is made of aluminium, it requires slightly more maintenance than a plastic case. For cleaning these cases we recommend S100 Moto Wash. NEVER use maintenance products that contain acids or other corrosive substances. Such products cause dark stains which are very difficult to remove afterwards.
Watertightness: the GIVI side cases and top cases are not waterproof. They were awarded an IPX4 rating. Having the right expectations always helps prevent disappointment.
