The most recent generations of Sena’s SRL for Shoei – you may call it SRL3 – is still loaded with powerful functions. The most important one is probably Mesh Intercom™, even though the sound coming out of Harman Kardon speakers is also a nice feature.
Sounds familiar? As in, ‘I thought the SRL Mesh already had these things?’ Exactly right but that was designed to fit the predecessor and this SRL3 by Sena has been designed for the most recent generation of motorcycle helmets by Shoei. Even though the technical aspects are closely related to what we already know, this third generation is a lot more discreet and with a tighter design.
This compact SRL3 fits three of Shoei’s most popular motorcycle helmets: the Shoei Neotec 3, the Shoei GT-Air 3 and the SHOEI J-Cruise 3, and in each of them it has proven – we’re sure of it – to be a perfect travel companion.
Everything by Sena we are already familiar with is still present: Mesh Intercom™, 4-way Bluetooth® Intercom, Digital Assistant Access (via voice commands) and Advanced Noise Control™, just to name a few. In one word, let’s just say ‘everything’. It’s that simple. Listening to music, deliberating with travel companions, receiving GPS coordinates … Thanks to a downloadable SENA app on your smartphone, you are certain of a digital platform and user convenience that is still unparalleled.
MESH & BLUETOOTH® INTERCOM
SRL3 offers both Mesh Intercom™ and traditional 4-way Bluetooth® intercom, allowing for connection to any Sena or Sena-powered device. Sena’s industry-leading Mesh Intercom™ communication platform has two modes: Multi-Channel Open Mesh Intercom™ (Open Mesh) and Group Mesh Intercom™.
Open Mesh features the industry’s first Mesh Intercom™ channel system. Like standard handheld or CB radios, Open Mesh lets users switch between nine channels. Open Mesh offers a single push of a button to click-to-connect to the Mesh Intercom™ network. It also supports a near-limitless number of users within a range of up to 5 miles / 8 km (min. 6 riders @ 1 mi / 1.6 km intervals).
Group Mesh supports a single, private group for up to 24 participants and the same range as Open Mesh for a more intimate group conversation. Only invited users can join the Group Mesh chat. Open Mesh and Group Mesh provide unprecedented intercom audio quality and robust connectivity.
General note: The world of electronics (which also includes intercoms, smartphones, GPS, etc.) changes so quickly that it is possible that some (outdated) devices are not compatible with each other in certain areas. Unfortunately, the manufacturer can't provide us with data that shows which combinations between intercoms/GPS's and/or smartphones cause problems. A regular update of all electronic devices is therefore desirable to avoid problems as much as possible.
