The most recent generations of Sena’s SRL for Shoei – you may call it SRL3 – is still loaded with powerful functions. The most important one is probably Mesh Intercom™, even though the sound coming out of Harman Kardon speakers is also a nice feature.
Sounds familiar? As in, ‘I thought the SRL Mesh already had these things?’ Exactly right but that was designed to fit the predecessor and this SRL3 by Sena has been designed for the most recent generation of motorcycle helmets by Shoei. Even though the technical aspects are closely related to what we already know, this third generation is a lot more discreet and with a tighter design.
This compact SRL3 fits two of Shoei’s most popular motorcycle helmets: the Shoei Neotec 3 and the Shoei GT-Air 3, and in each of them it has proven – we’re sure of it – to be a perfect travel companion.
Everything by Sena we are already familiar with is still present: Mesh Intercom™, 4-way Bluetooth® Intercom, Digital Assistant Access (via voice commands) and Advanced Noise Control™, just to name a few. In one word, let’s just say ‘everything’. It’s that simple. Listening to music, deliberating with travel companions, receiving GPS coordinates … Thanks to a downloadable SENA app on your smartphone, you are certain of a digital platform and user convenience that is still unparalleled.
Multi-channel communication & private conversations
The SRL3 offers not one, but three individual intercom modes available for Sena riders: Open Mesh Intercom™ with several channels, Mesh Intercom™ with groups and Bluetooth Intercom.
Multi-channel Open Mesh Intercom (Open Mesh) is the first Mesh Intercom™ channel system in the industry. Just like with standard hand or CB radios, users with the SRL3 can switch between different channels when working in the Open Mesh mode. Open Mesh offers the possibility to connect to the Mesh Intercom™ network with a single push of a button. It also supports an almost unlimited amount of users within a range of maximally 8km (at least 6 riders @ 1.6km intervals). With this ease of connection, its enormous user capacity, incredible range and the addition of the nine-channel function, the SRL-Mesh Open Mesh Intercom mode is definitely a gamechanger for large groups or club rides.
If you prefer a private group conversation, you simply switch to the intercom mode Group Mesh. Group Mesh supports a single, closed group of maximally 24 members and the same reach as Open Mesh. To secure privacy, only users that have been invited to the Group Mesh conversation can join. Whichever Mesh Intercom™ mode you choose, you’ll enjoy the robust reliability integrated in the Mesh network of Sena.
The traditional four-way Bluetooth Intercom mode is always an option to connect with other Sena Bluetooth-compatible users within a 2 km range. Moreover, SRL3 users can pair with a Sena Bluetooth Intercom user and ‘override’ them in a Mesh Intercom™ conversation.
General note: The world of electronics (which also includes intercoms, smartphones, GPS, etc.) changes so quickly that it is possible that some (outdated) devices are not compatible with each other in certain areas. Unfortunately, the manufacturer can't provide us with data that shows which combinations between intercoms/GPS's and/or smartphones cause problems. A regular update of all electronic devices is therefore desirable to avoid problems as much as possible.
