We can’t fit a lot more into this format. Sena's 10C EVO is a perfect, Bluetooth intercom system AND a 4K camera in one. Ka-blam.
The design is razor sharp and - honestly, as a non-frequent Sena user - that 'ka-blam' above is the sound we made when we fell off our chairs. We already know that Sena can handle a good intercom. That they're now getting a 4K/30FPS top-of-the-line camera in the same format, that's strong.
You get one and a half hours of recording time. That corresponds to about 20 hours of intercom use. That big spread is mostly indicative of the quality of your recordings. The camera records 4K, at 30 frames per second. The image is 125 degrees wide and the lens rotates 30°. Photos can be taken just as well, in various camera modes and options. The whole thing can be operated with one button, while you are kept informed via the intercom. The intuitive operation allows you to highlight and save the highlights of the ride almost immediately. Saving is done on a MicroSD card (not included!) which can have up to 128GB of storage space.
Quite far-reaching is the fact that you can - on the road already - edit music and intercom voice to your images. If you say "We see the Eiffel Tower" in your motorcycle helmet, while looking at it, that image, with that sound, will be saved in a moment.
The actual four-way intercom system uses advanced technologies, including Bluetooth 4.1 and, with the digital 'Active Noise Control', offers not only a very good sound, but also a range of 1.6 kilometers. In addition, Sena has provided the 10C EVO with a free downloadable smartphone app (for Android or iPhone). Through this app the 10C EVO can be fully configured. The 10C EVO is suitable for every type of motorcycle helmet.
Note: SENA recommends formatting the SD card using the camera button on the 10C EVO before attempting to update the camera to ensure it is set to the correct format. The reason why an SD card is needed when updating the 10C EVO is that the camera uses the SD card as cache during the update, because the camera firmware and the headset firmware in the 10C EVO need to be updated simultaneously, which requires quite a bit of memory.
General note: The world of electronics (which also includes intercoms, smartphones, GPS, etc.) changes so quickly that it is possible that some (outdated) devices are not compatible with each other in certain areas. Unfortunately, the manufacturer can't provide us with data that shows which combinations between intercoms/GPS's and/or smartphones cause problems. A regular update of all electronic devices is therefore desirable to avoid problems as much as possible.
