It looks similar to the HJC V30 (a real ‘brain bucket’), shares a number of characteristics with the I30 (a modern maxi jet helmet) and has a removable chin piece that only has aesthetic value. Behold, the I20, the object to instantly transform yourself from a goodie-two-shoes sidekick to a bad-ass that (from far far away) reminds of a combination between Bane and Darth Vader.
The ‘Advanced Polycarbonate’ composite helmet shell is a lightweight. It helps that there is a three-shell breakdown to contain all helmet sizes. Further, this motorcycle helmet is ready to operate the SMART HJC Bluetooth-systems (20B).
To access the easy-going sidekick, you unhinge the chin guard (two dark red push buttons left and right), you flip up the integrated sun visor and you wear a white cape around your shoulders, while gliding through the Sunday landscape. Now do the exact opposite, develop an unnatural looking muscle mass, growl every now and again, jump into your wife-beater and you’ll be a supervillain. One that doesn’t have to catch his breath, thanks to the functional (operable from the inside) vent grids in the chin piece. This is a visual element; the I20 will always be 100% jet helmet.
The integrated sun visor has two convenient tabs to be easily accessible, even with gloves. In the box, there’s also a transparent visor. Even Superman had more work transforming than you’ll have wearing this I20.
The interior of the HJC I20 is ‘Supercool’: anti-bacterial, comfortable, replaceable, washable and with cut-outs at the temples for a spectacle-friendly fit.
The closure of this motorcycle helmet is micrometric, adjustable and integrated into a soft, wide chin strap. This, together with the wide neck rim of the helmet decreases the risk of whiplash and increases wearing comfort.
In some countries (e.g., France) it is compulsory to have reflective stickers on your helmet. The I20 is delivered without these reflective decals. Reflective sticker sets can be found here.
Maintenance tips:
- Do you cringe at disassembling the interior of your helmet in order to wash it? You can also clean the interior without removing it with S100 Helmet Interior Cleaner.
- The outside and the visor of your helmet should be cleaned with S100 Helmet and Visor Cleaner.
Safety above all! Never drive with a scratched or dull visor. Especially at night, scratches cause blinding reflections of street lights and headlights of oncoming vehicles. This effect is even more pronounced in rainy weather. It is best to replace a scratched or dull visor as soon as possible. Planning a long trip? Then don't forget to take a replacement visor with you. Never ride in the dark with a tinted visor.
