The HJC C70N is a good quality, sharply priced full-face helmet. An entry-level model that can definitely be good fun and which doesn’t have any hidden flaws.
This C70N continues where the previous HJC C70 stopped and is ECE R22.06 certified. In order to comply with the (stricter) certification criteria and to maintain its compact size, HJC added another motorcycle helmet shell: from now on, three helmet shells contain all helmet sizes. This results in 1,600 grams, which isn’t even that excessive for a helmet with integrated sun visor. The shape of the helmet is aerodynamic, with efficiently applied lines that effectively channel riding wind.
The motorcycle helmet shell of the C70 in advanced polycarbonate is derived from the equally successful (and by now probably long forgotten) IS-17 by HJC, being at least as comfortable and safe.
A solid slider on the chin opens and closes the ‘ACS’ (Advanced Channelling Ventilation System), creating a complete airflow throughout the motorcycle helmet. It expertly handles heat and moisture, pitilessly pointing it to the exit. Opening or closing the top ventilation – with motorcycle gloves on – is an easy task.
The slider operating the integrated sun visor is now positioned on top of the helmet. This allows the system to be reached by both hands. The transparent HJ-20M motorcycle helmet visor closes tightly (click system in the front) and is of the scratch-resistant and UV-resistant kind. Practical. Moreover, it can be replaced without tools quickly and easily, possibly by a tinted or mirrored alternative. RapidFire Shield Replacement System is what HJC calls it. A Pinlock® is optional. Treatment of the outside of the visor with Rain-X anti-rain spray improves visibility during rain showers.
The removable, antibacterial interior of the helmet has been specifically designed to combat moisture. Washing it is no issue at all. Cutouts in the right places make it extra comfortable for the bespectacled. The breath deflector is evidently removable, just like the wind curtain chin. Nevertheless, both are useful and of good quality, so in first instance, leave them where they are. The neck rim has been finished with an eye for detail, and safety (whiplash).
Fixing the HJC C70N is done with a micrometric closure. Adjustable and with a Quick-release-system, allowing a speedy opening if needed.
Reflective stickers are mandatory in France (and certain other countries).
Care instructions:
- Reluctant to disassemble the interior of your helmet, only to have it washed? You can also clean the interior without removing it with S100 Helmet Interior Cleaner.
- The outside and the visor of your helmet should be cleaned with S100 Helmet and Visor Cleaner.
Safety above all! Never ride with a scratched or dull visor. Especially at night, scratches cause blinding reflections of street lights and headlights of oncoming vehicles. This effect is even more pronounced in rainy weather. It is best to replace a worn visor as soon as possible. Planning a long trip? Then don't forget to take a replacement visor with you. Never ride in the dark with a tinted visor.
