The HJC I40N is the newest, modern, stylish and let’s not forget very practical jet helmet by HJC. This ECE R22.06-certified update of the I40 is first and foremost a very low-threshold and entry-level jet helmet.
HJC places the I40 somewhere between ‘brain bucket’ and full-face helmet – righteously so; the HJC I40 is the best of both worlds, at a very reasonable price.
The outer shell of this motorcycle helmet is made of advanced polycarbonate. Light, well-fitting and comfortable, even at higher speeds. Two helmet shells contain all helmet sizes, which is also striving for efficiency. The result on the scale? 1,400 grams. ‘More’ translates first of all to an integrated HJ-V13 sun visor, which is operated on the left, with a slider. Also easy to do, even with your motorcycle gloves on. If you know that the tint is called ‘Dark Smoke’, then you know what to expect. Unfortunately, the sun can’t shine every single day, so there’s the very convenient transparent visor of this HJC I40N. It is Pinlock®-ready and thanks to the RapidFire Shield Replacement System you can replace it effortlessly, without tools and even without losing too much of your time.
It makes sense that we haven’t discussed ventilation yet: the HJC i40N is a jet helmet. And still… you can’t miss the top ventilation – slide forward and backward. Perfectly doable with your motorcycle gloves on, purely by touch, to be assured of a fresh brain.
Having a fresh brain while handling a motorcycle is never a bad thing. Especially in the busy city centre, where this HJC I40N really comes into its own. No-one will look at you funny if you’d use this as your daily helmet all through summer. Practical, compact, versatile … it has many benefits.
The micrometric closure is fast and easy to use. The adjustable, soft chin strap with nicely-finished soft elements in the cheeks, even the extra buckle to attach this motorcycle helmet to something … there’s a lot of eye for detail.
Glasses-wearers need not worry and the complete interior is antibacterial, removable and washable.

Safety above all! Never ride with a scratched or dull visor. Especially at night, scratches cause blinding reflections of street lights and headlights of oncoming vehicles. This effect is even more pronounced in rainy weather. It is best to replace a worn visor as soon as possible. Planning a long trip? Then don't forget to take a replacement visor with you. Never ride in the dark with a tinted visor.
