It was quite the surprise, opening the box of this Ace Lady, after holding the men’s version. Even though they are clearly related, the men’s and ladies’ versions are sufficiently different in appearance to be able to speak of a real feminine motorcycle shoe.
The ladies’ version seems to be higher, the tongue of the shoe has been designed differently and the lace system is – partially because of it, or vice versa – different. This motorcycle shoe by GIANNI FALCO is still ankle-high, summer-oriented and also in this version is largely a micro-synthetic, leather exterior responsible for its wear-resistant qualities.
There are extra layers on the heel, toe and ankle that give the entire shoe a more robust appearance. This is quite okay because even though the GIANNI FALCO Ace is a summer shoe barely covering the ankle, the Italians also integrated a water-repelling High-Tex membrane. ‘Water-repelling’, not waterproof, because ankle-high shoes shouldn’t be ambitious when it comes to waterproofness, and because GIANNI FALCO’s reference is usually the Italian weather.
The dual-compound vulcanised rubber sole of the GIANNI FALCO Ace Lady acts as a solid base. Also to walk around a little, without motorcycle near. The areas of the heel, toes and ankle are all supplied with internal reinforcements. In the back, these are the tried and tested D3O® inserts we know from the rest of the GIANNI FALCO range.
Getting into the Ace Lady can go in one of two ways. The laces – actually no-tie elastic – stand little chance of hooking behind a gear or brake lever, which is the purpose of this design. Or, you could use the vertical zipper on the inside of each Ace Lady. In the back, this motorcycle shoe spares your Achilles’ heel and a pull tab gives a helping hand where needed.
The Ace Lady motorcycle shoe by GIANNI FALCO is a low and low-threshold, smooth, relatively neutral motorcycle shoe for lady commuters, urbanites or summer riders.
