The double P/J homologation – as a full-blown modular helmet and an even full-blown open-face helmet – is still a noteworthy phenomenon, with the flip-back chin piece that was also introduced at competitive colleague ‘Shark’. It largely means that the EXO-TECH EVO PRO has a wide versatility. And a wide chin piece, literally. Naturally, because it has to flip over the entire helmet shell. Therefore, SCORPION had to opt for a somewhat wider helmet shell than we are used to from them. This is only important – but important nevertheless – if you are now using a SCORPION motorcycle helmet that only barely fits your side case…
If not, not to worry. Two helmet shells still contain all helmet sizes, delivering a beautiful round number on the scales for this complete fibreglass version. Let’s rewind. Fibreglass? Yes, indeed. This ‘Pro’ version has a different main ingredient, allowing the EXO-TECH EVO PRO motorcycle helmets to come in three variants, with the EXO-TECH EVO PRO made of polycarbonate (the original) and the EXO-TECH EVO Carbon in… well, yes, carbon fibre.
Back to the scales: this is pretty burly motorcycle helmet, for versatile and frequent use. Ventilation is largely included in a modular helmet of this type and thanks to the easily operable chin and top ventilation, you’ll never run out of fresh air or oxygen.
The transparent visor is Pinlock®-lens-ready, which is also included in the box. Removing and/or replacing the visor requires a little more work than ‘usual’, because a flip-up and flip-back chin piece shares its attachment and hinge point with the transparent visor. But again: not to worry. It’s all pretty self-explanatory and SCORPION adds two extra ‘stopping points’ and a specific tool in the box.
SCORPION uses the term Speedview as a way to indicate the integrated sun visor. You can find the slider at the bottom left. Forward is down, backward is up.
Kwickwick 3 has to do with the interior: completely removable, washable and hypoallergenic, this helmet interior regulates the internal moisture climate in a way that is more than reassuring. Even in hotter conditions, by the way. When you read the word ‘Kwikfit’ in a text about SCORPION motorcycle helmets, every glasses-wearer sighs with relief: this motorcycle helmet is perfectly suited for that, with cutouts for the temples.
A wide and well-fitting neck rim, the adjustable micrometric closure illustrate the attention to detail that was put in this helmet. The supplied chin curtain is removable.
The SCORPION EXO-TECH EVO comes with a five-year warranty.
For maintenance of this helmet we recommend S100 helmet and visor cleaner for the exterior. For cleaning the interior, without removing it, you can use S100 helmet interior cleaner. New visors have received a water-repellent treatment. This treatment is less effective after some time. Restore the water-repellent effect with Rain-X anti-rain spray.
Safety above all! Never ride with a scratched or dull visor. Especially at night, scratches cause blinding reflections from street lights and headlights of oncoming vehicles. In rainy weather this effect is even more pronounced. It is best to replace a scratched or dull visor as soon as possible. Planning a longer trip? Then don't forget to bring a replacement visor with you. Never ride in the dark with a tinted visor.
