The XL04 Tanklock tankbag is a motorbike-specific tankbag that almost exclusively fits the ‘typical’ motorcycles with sloping fuel tanks. In this case, we’re talking about the larger blokes from the segment:
- BMW R 1200 GS (13 > 18)
- BMW R 1250 GS (19 > 22)
- BMW R 1200 GS Adventure (14 > 18)
- BMW R 1250 GS Adventure (19 > 22)
- BMW R 1300 GS (23-24)
- KTM 1290 Adventure S and R (20 > 22).
The capacity is 15 litres and can be expanded (with a zipper) to 20 litres.
The X-line by GIVI is characterised by a solid, strong 1200D outer shell with TPU inserts. Partly pre-shaped, UV-resistant and produced in accordance with REACH-standards, this is a storage solution to reckon with. It looks like GIVI maintains the ‘keep it simple’ ideology, because a central storage compartment with a waterproof inner bag doesn’t seem too complex at first glance.
Don’t be fooled, though: there’s an extra front compartment – reachable separately with a zipper – and a transparent map holder to attach to the XL04. Which is surprisingly easy, by the way. Thanks to a little Fidlock®magnet. Also present: a cable outlet and handle, shoulder strap and safety strap to attach everything around the steering.
The central storage compartment can be reached through a zipper with two pullers. By bringing the openings of both pullers together, you can close the tankbag with a little lock.
Reflective details enhance visibility in the evenings and at night. This tankbag’s dimensions are 28cm x 43cm x 27cm. The measurements of the transparent map holder are 20cm x 26cm.
Attention! Tanklock tankbags are mounted to the fuel cap, which is – usually – standard in one place. This means that you can’t really ‘move’ your Tanklock bag higher or lower on your tank, like you do a magnetic tankbag.
