As the name suggests, the Maximus 2 GTX Windstopper is a windstopper straight from the GORE-TEX R&D department that can conceal you almost entirely. Yet, it is featherlight, very flexible and practical. An essential accessory for all true all-seasons riders and tenacious commuters.
This has a lot to do with the ‘4-way-stretch’ shaping this hat. Thin and light, sufficiently tight yet never hindering, perfectly fitting underneath your motorcycle helmet … It’s the summum of a balaclava. It’s made to be slid into and out of, there’s no need to look for hindering seams which means that there are no painful pressure points. And all we described so far was the part that REV’IT! deemed unnecessary to include in the name.
The panel protecting your throat and chest is what the ‘GTX Windstopper’ is actually referring to. Even though it is made from a GORE-TEX developed material, it reminds us of softshell and it is not waterproof. Water-repellent, yes. Moisture-wicking, breathable and resistant to the most vicious northern winds, that too. That combination is more than sufficient while still keeping it comfortable.
All other ingredients include ‘mesh’ and ‘laminated reflective material’ in their names, one is located at the nose, the other in the form of modest accents but both as effective and striking as everything else on the menu.
You don’t wear the Maximus 2 GTX Windstopper as is. Your motorcycle jacket and motorcycle helmet are the ones that stop the rain and the role of this balaclava is to deal with those few intrusive droplets and that pesky wind.
Just for the sake of completeness, you also don’t wear the Maximus 2 GTX Windstopper as only layer. Its protective qualities are aimed towards fighting weather conditions.
