The Karma 3 GTX feels like a warm embrace. Soft too, textured and shaped like softshell. The nose section is made of mesh – oxygen is important – and it is sufficiently stretchy to slide over your head with ease. This is a purebred windstopper. We mention this explicitly because, despite its water-repellent features, it’s not 100% waterproof as the ‘GTX’ in the name might suggest.
So, a windstopper. By GORE-TEX LABS, no less, though in this form it is primarily innovative shoftshell technology, developed by experienced and skilled professionals with one particular goal in mind. This explains how breathability, light weight and moisture wicking properties are perfectly on par, and why it should be used to stop wind, not per se to guarantee 100% waterproofness.
Then again, the choice is obvious: you don’t wear the Karma 3 GTX as a first line of defence. You wear your motorcycle jacket over it and a motorcycle helmet is always nearby as well.
