Alpinestars’ Stella SMX-6 V3 is an excellent and waterproof all-rounder that links the high degree of track protection to more than enough street-worthy features, while all the while keeping the price of a motorcycle boot of this calibre within reasonable limits.
The word Stella refers to the most beautiful stars in the Italian skies and is therefore used by Alpinestars to specifically indicate the female versions. Therefore, the Stella SMX-6 V3 is a more refined, smaller version of this motorcycle boot, aimed at lady bikers.
About that uniqueness: the Stella SMX-6 V3 uses the third version of this motorcycle boot as starting point, but the SMX family tree has already grown and become deep-rooted into the motorcycle world. This means that the roots are knowhow and experience, elements that turn this almost-thirty-centimetres-high waterproof motorcycle boot into a new pinnacle. It’s no coincidence that Alpinestars’ target group are the sporty lady bikers, on track as well as those on public roads; which is underlined by the design.
The advanced microfibre construction delivers a lightweight exterior, not in the least because you can already spot lots of recesses near the front and back accordion strips with the naked eye. These ‘flex zones’ increase flexibility, and the breathing (patented) microfibre material offers this boot lots of value for money in the form of strength and comfort.
The TPU ankle brace is an eyecatcher in the Stella SMX-6 V3. It allows for comfortable freedom of movement while supporting the ankle in the event of a crash, preventing distortion. It increases the chances of your foot looking like it did before the impact, toes in the same direction as your nose. The heel and shinbone, also vulnerable in case of a crash, are supported with hard TPU. At the shin, the TPU plate has been repositioned compared to earlier SMX-6 versions. Evidently, there are reinforcements in the sole and toe area, as well as gear lever protection and the replaceable toe slider.
The wide (side) instep makes it easy for almost everyone to get into these boots. You open and close them with a zip and Velcro system for an optimal fit. The zip pull can be attached inside the boot so that it is never in the way.
