Boas come in all different kinds and sizes. More specifically: there are waterproof motorcycle boots called the SP-X Boa Drystar and there are those without the Drystar membrane. That choice is up to you because their overall appearance and style are pretty much identical after that.
The striking, slender, mid-height and waterproof SP-X Boa Drystar distinguishes itself from just about every other motorcycle boot with its closing mechanism that is mainly popular in the cycling world. The Boa mentioned earlier refers to the proven quick-release system or the Speed Lace System with superstrong synthetic laces and a dial positioned on the side of this SP-X motorcycle boot. The large advantage of this type of closure is that the fit of the motorcycle boot adjusts almost perfectly to your foot and ankle. This customised fit can be easily achieved by twisting the dial or by releasing everything in one short movement (short pull-up).
As opposed to cyclists’ gear, Alpinestars provided an additional Velcro strip at the top of the shaft starting at the leather shinbone flap and ensuring that you can wear this SP-X Boa Drystar effortlessly underneath any technical motorcycle trousers. It delivers an ergonomically well-fitting and comfortable motorcycle boot.
The exterior of this slender and waterproof motorcycle boot is composed of a combination of advanced microfibre, ultrasoft RIDEKNIT fabric and knitted mesh. Together, the seamless, thermally-welded components form one solid unit.
More specific to this particular SP-X Boa Drystar is the presence of the waterproof Drystar membrane. Its breathability and moisture-permeability (in one single direction) offers a healthy climate management, while keeping rain on the outside during your ride. Combined with the rugged sole, you can count on this motorcycle boot to guide you through and across just about any terrain.
At the bottom, the shiny TPU heel cover and the toe slider stand out. An invisible component but as important is the special compound inside the sole and the integrated reinforcement preventing your toes and heel from pointing in the same direction. The profile of the sole – with the asymmetry in the heel area – helps maintain a natural gait and stability once you get off your bike. Of course, the removable OrthoLite insole and anatomic EVA footbed with Lycra also play their part in this.
The SP-X Boa Drystar has an integrated shinbone protector, dual density ankle protector, TPU shift pad protection and toe-box reinforcement. The eye-catching, knitted elements on the front and back provide flexibility, freedom of movement and comfort.
