The Austral GTX has a remarkably sharp design. These ankle-high motorcycle shoes are equipped with a GORE-TEX membrane and are comfortable and easy to wear.
The GORE-TEX membrane provides breathing and waterproof features. However, they do remain only ankle-high. Close to the ground and positioned behind the front wheel, there’s always a chance of water getting in. Nonetheless, the Austral GTX tries its utmost to prevent that from hindering you too much.
The exterior is made of a wear-resistant, light microfibre that resembles leather. The asymmetric toe box has been specifically designed to allow for an enhanced shift protection. In the back, the Achilles’ heel has been given sufficient space. The textile on the heel increases the comfort level, movability and the breathing capacity of these motorcycle shoes. The Austral GTX has many ‘invisible’ elements: GORE-TEX but also PrimaLoft. That insulation is placed at the forefoot and toes as an additional layer between the outer microfibre and the integrated lining. This means you don’t have to worry about getting cold feet (literally).
The well-placed dual density ankle protectors are fitted underneath the outer layer and on top of the padded lining. The hard construction at the heel (TPU) offers protection as well as stability. Your toes can count on a similar, more streamlined protection as well.
The lace closure system hides the fact that you can almost wear this motorcycle shoe like a sock. It places the lowest opening of the Austral GTX almost twenty centimetres above the floor, which is an absolute asset when you aspire waterproofness. The tongue of the Austral GTX gives the option to neatly store away the lace loops. There’s also a Velcro strip to keep everything in place during your ride.
The rubber sole contains different textures and absorbs a lot of impact when you’re walking around. The rigidity is the result of an integrated support shank. The flexible inner structure enhances comfort when you decide to leave your motorcycle for a minute and continue on foot.
