The waterproof Stella T-Jaws V4 is a distinctly sporty motorcycle jacket in both style and function. But it doesn’t stop there: the choice that was made for textile and the integration of a membrane opens many new doors.
In this fourth version, the Stella T-Jaws V4 was given a new and sportier cut with a design to match. Maybe it’s trying less hard to hide its true nature? The external shoulder sliders, short cut, low collar and even the contoured sleeves create the obvious link with sporty motorcycle riding. So, in this motorcycle jacket, you get all the knowhow and features this Italian manufacturer is known for – with a little extra.
The textile exterior (600D and 450D) is a combination of polyester and stretch material, delivering a wear and tear-resistant unit that allows for sufficient freedom of movement and comfort. An extra level is added with the integrated (non-removable) waterproof membrane. To then push the possibilities to the other extreme, Alpinestars have provided a (removable) thermal lining and strategically placed ventilation zips (under the arms and on the back). The thermal lining is heavier on the torso (100 grams) than it is on the arms (80 grams) to keep that comfort and mobility level on point.
Adding all these parts brings us to the conclusion that this is clearly a sporty motorcycle jacket that’s not afraid to show its touring ambitions on tarmac. However, you can’t have it all. For sporty standards, storage space is ample but cannot compete with purebred touring jackets aspiring to travel the world. The question is, do you want to? Travel the world? If not, then this Stella T-Jaws V4 will surprise you as a comfortable, sporty, daily commuting partner.
The protective material is on par as well – what else did you expect from Alpinestars? Tech Air-ready and equipped with Nucleon Flex Plus elbow and shoulder protection, which by default is sufficient for public roads. There are external GP-Lite protectors on the shoulders, which don’t particularly stand out due to a subtle layer of textile, but they are most definitely present. Everything is prepared to easily fit in the Nucleon Flex Pro Ci chest protectors and Nucleon Plasma back protector (level 2 certified) or Nucleon KR-CELLi back protector (level 1 certified).
The collar – 3D, comfortably padded – somewhat illustrates the look and feel of the entire motorcycle jacket: well-finished. Snug. Sporty (low) yet comfortable (soft). That combination is the main idea of this entire story.
There’s sufficient reflective material to enhance visibility in conditions with lower visibility.
Thanks to the combination zip, this motorcycle jacket can be attached to almost all Alpinestars motorcycle trousers, with decent motorcycle jeans being one of the options as well.
