The name of this pair of stretch motorcycle trousers refers to its aptitude for adventure trails (XT) and to the waterproof Drystar XF membrane that allow these tightly shaped pants to become a fun, clever and especially very comfortable candidate to cruise around in most of the year.
An adventurous lightweight, laminated and waterproof, with a tight design and reinforced with wear-resistant ripstop in all the critical places – we can’t describe the Hyde XT Drystar by Alpinestars any more concise. The style and properties – technically and visually – lean somewhat towards motocross but there’s more than enough civilisation present to cruise through the city as well. Something for motorcyclists who don’t mind a little mud, an enduro-style skid, lots of space above the tyres and the type of ride other bikers decide to skip. Or for the owners of a crossover motorcycle helmet who still need matching trousers. Or for everyone who enjoys lots of protection and comfort.
The Hyde XT Drystar XF motorcycle trousers were initially designed for the dual sport segment. Adventure touring on a bulky adventure bike requires quite the effort from a motorcyclist. A light, four-way stretching waterproof outer layer is a welcome contribution to conquer that. The ripstop reinforcements protect the areas that are potentially most impacted in the event of a crash but they also allow better grip on your seat.
The laminated Drystar XF membrane keeps the person inside these motorcycle trousers dry in every (read: wet) condition. ‘Like water from a duck’, that’s the effect of laminated membranes which means the water doesn’t get the chance to weigh the Hyde XT Drystar XF motorcycle trousers down. Reversely, everything dries a lot quicker and a cold wind won’t immediately completely cool you down. There’s still breathability and with a couple of long, direct, diagonal ventilation openings, you can keep wearing these motorcycle trousers for quite long before the floodgates really open.
Standard impact protectors are the Nucleon Flex Plus Level 1 knee protectors. Very flexible, well-ventilated and thin, they are seldom in the way. There’s room to fit – optional – impact protection on the hips (Bio-Flex).
Storage is not the Hyde XT Drystar XF’s main concern, even though two cargo pockets provide plenty of space.
To open and close the Hyde XT Drystar XF at the waist, there are two sturdy press studs, a zipper and a (magnetic) belt that leaves a lot of room to find the perfect fit. At the bottom, each pant leg has a zip with a sufficiently long opening.
There is maintenance clothing, and then there is clothing maintenance. Good, solid motorcycle clothing is an investment in comfort and personal safety. So invest in its maintenance after your purchase and enjoy your gear for longer.
